We’re over a year in, and it’s evident that the pandemic has brought a severe mental health crisis along with it. An increasing number of people are struggling and reaching out to psychologists and mental health professionals. Along with the usual manifestations of mental illnesses, “Covid anxiety” has created a niche for itself. And the brutal second wave only seems to be making matters worse.

No trigger warning could’ve prepared us for what the face of social media has been for the past few days. With desperate calls for help circulating everywhere, there’s a certain dread that exists, even in asking about someone’s well-being. But that’s not something we need to elaborate on further, we’re all seeing it unravel before our own eyes.

We know how difficult it is to hold onto hope and keep up a brave front right now and we want to help you in whatever way we can. So we have curated a list of five online platforms that can help you find psychologists and mental health resources.

1. Therapize India

With a prompt and action-based approach, Therapize India is a revolutionary mental health care platform. Started by Anushka Kelkar and Aviva Bhansali, this platform aims to go beyond simply spreading awareness about mental health. They have a huge roster of well-qualified and experienced mental health professionals on board. Anyone who wishes to seek help is asked to fill out a form, and they are matched with therapists that are most suited to their needs.

They also regularly share useful resources and tips on their Instagram page.

Founded in 2019, Citta describes itself as, “a social venture that focuses on combating student suicide, and increasing accessibility to therapy for Indian students.” Their panel consists of qualified psychologists and counsellors. Keeping the current scenario in mind, they have started Covid-specific helplines for emotional support.

While it’s easy to get wholly consumed by the grim reality that surrounds us, we must strive to hold on tight and get through this. It may seem impossible to do so at the moment, but we urge you to please reach out to an accommodating and qualified mental health professional and seek the help and support you need. And if it seems impossible to reach out yourself, ask a friend or family member to help.
