The New Year is just starting out and we’re already loving it! 2023 is bringing us a bunch of holidays, and if you plan them smartly, you’ll have around 18 mini vacations this year. So, here are all the long weekends in 2023 and the beautiful spots to use them.

1. Jaipur: January 13-15

If you take a day off on January 13, Friday, you get Lohri on the 14th and Sunday on the 15th, making it a great weekend for a mini getaway. At this time, Jaipur is a great option to explore as the weather is quite pleasant. You can spend the afternoons outdoors visiting palaces, going on safaris, doing some shopping, and exploring the city.

2. Goa: January 26-29

If you miss the first mini vacation of January 2023, don’t worry because there’s a backup for you. January 26, Thursday, is Republic Day, and if you take the 27th off, you’ll get the weekend on January 28-29. This makes for four days of break if you take one day off in between. And you can successfully plan a Goa trip with your best friends because the weather is just perfect. You don’t have to worry about the humidity ruining your trip, your parents might do the needful. But regardless, it is a great option to consider and make the most of your long weekend in 2023.

3. Ooty: February 17-19

Mahashivratri falls on February 18 which is a Saturday, so if you take Friday off, you get yourself a long weekend. And Ooty is a great place to visit in February as it is mildly cold at that time. From sightseeing to visiting museums, enjoying a ride on the toy train, and taking boat rides, you can have a great time if you plan in advance.

4. Pushkar: March 8-12

Holi is on March 8, Wednesday, so if you take Thursday and Friday off, you’ll get the weekend and a five-day long break. And visiting Pushkar is a great idea around Holi as the city is full of colours and festivities throughout the week. You can visit the iconic temples and also explore nearby spots in Rajasthan to make the most of your trip.

5. Ranthambore National Park: April 4-9

This is one of the really long weekends of 2023, so make sure you plan it well in advance. April 4, Tuesday, is Mahavir Jayanti and the 7th is Good Friday, so if you take two days off in between, you’ll get another vacation. Ranthambore National Park is lovely around April as the weather is quite pleasant.

6. Silchar: April 14-16

April 14, Friday, is Baisakhi followed by the weekend, giving you a 3-day break from your mundane routine. So, pack your bags and plan a quick getaway to Silchar, Assam. Experience the natural beauty, rich heritage, and stunning architecture of the place. The weather is great in the months of April and May, so you don’t have to worry about melting in the sun.

7. Kausani: April 21-23

April 2023 is a good month to plan your leave and make the most of your long weekends. April 22, Saturday, is Eid-ul-Fitr, so if you take Friday off, you’ll get a three-day long weekend. And this is the perfect time for a quick getaway to the hills of Kausani. From temples, galleries, tea estates, and visiting waterfalls, you can enjoy a relaxing three-day break here.

8. Narkanda: April 29-May 1

April 29-30 is the weekend and May 1, Monday, is Labour Day. That gives you three long weekends of 2023 just in April! So, if you’re in the mood to get out of town and be in nature’s lap skiing, trekking, and enjoying outdoor sports, you can plan a trip to Narkanda. There are a lot of tourist attractions too and it is a great escape from the hot weather of the plains.

9. Kanatal: May 5-7

May 5, Friday, is Buddha Purnima, giving you another long weekend in May. So, hitting the hills is a good idea to get away from the sweltering heat of the city. And you can try out some trekking, camping, bonfire, and sightseeing in this beautiful place away from the noise and crowd of the city.

10. Ladakh: June 29-July 2

June 29, Thursday, is Bakr Eid, and if you take Friday off, you get a 4-day long extended weekend in June/July. And there is no better time to plan a trip to Ladakh with your friends or family. You can experience the best of Ladakh in four days including thrilling outdoor activities, visiting monasteries, and enjoying the gorgeous views.

11. Coorg: August 12-15

August 12-13 is the weekend, so if you take Monday off, you can combine it with the holiday on August 15, Tuesday. This is a nice long weekend in August 2023, so make your plans well in advance. August is a great time to visit Coorg as the monsoon season brings out the beauty of this lush green paradise. The weather is amazing and you get to experience the waterfalls in this season too.

12. Mawlynnong: August 31-September 3

August 31, Thursday, is Rakshabandhan, and taking Friday off will give you a 4-day long weekend. And if you want to experience the best of the monsoon season, you’ve got to plan a trip to Mawlynnong in Meghalaya. It is a beautiful village 90 km from Shillong which has many tourist attractions, making it a great place for a weekend getaway.

13. Dooars: September 7-10

September 7, Thursday, is Janmashtami, and taking Friday off gives you another long weekend in 2023. This is a great time to visit Dooars in West Bengal which is rich in flora and fauna and has unmatched beauty! So, if you’re looking for a relaxing and serene place, this is where you need to be. You can visit many sanctuaries around the place and enjoy the scenic beauty of Dooars.

14. Jodhpur: September 30-October 2

Who doesn’t love a three-day long weekend? Because September/October is bringing you one and you might wanna use it. September 30-October 1 is the weekend and October 2, Monday, is Gandhi Jayanti which is a good time for a mini vacation. You can plan a trip to Jodhpur as it is quite pleasant around October and explore the forts, palaces, gardens, and much more.

15. Mount Abu: October 21-24

October 21-22 is the weekend and October 24, Tuesday, is Dussehra, so if you take Monday off, you get a 4-day long break. And if you don’t want to be sitting at home binging Netflix, why not plan a trip to Mount Abu? You can indulge in some hiking, trekking, camping, and rock climbing, and have a lot of fun in the month of October.

16. Auli: November 11-14

November 11-12 is the weekend and the 12th is Diwali followed by Govardhan Puja on the 13th, Monday, and Bhai Dooj on the 14th, Tuesday. So, you get a long weekend in November and you should make the most of it by planning a trip to Auli. It is the perfect place to visit in November to experience skiing, trekking, enjoying ropeway rides, and visiting famous national parks.

17. Udaipur: November 25-27

There’s another long weekend in November 2023. November 27, Monday, is Guru Nanak Jayanti, giving you a 3-day break for a weekend getaway. November is a great time to visit Udaipur and explore the palaces, forts, and beauty of one of the most romantic cities in the country.

18. Pondicherry: December 23-25

December 25, Monday, is Christmas, giving you a long weekend of fun. And you can experience the best time in Pondicherry during Christmas as the city comes alive for the celebration. You can do fun touristy stuff and visit the Christmas markets to make the most of your trip.
