Is it time to move on from workout routines and a healthy diet? Is it time to embrace new pills to lose weight and look 20 forever? Are the rumours true that Ozempic is the golden drug that you need?

Ozempic, a drug used to treat Type 2 Diabetes, works like GLP-1, a hormone that maintains blood sugar levels and keeps you full. This is why it is sold off-label as a weight loss drug, but now there are claims that it also slows the ageing process. But don’t jump with joy and trade your yoga mat for a prescription just yet. Take a closer look at how real this miracle is.

Lose pounds, years or your life?

Imagine a world where you take a drug and lose not only weight but also some years from your face. Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? That’s because it is! Recent studies reported by BBC hinted that Ozempic and similar drugs can make you slim and young.

However, a study published in the JAMA network has found that injected medications for weight loss like Ozempic, Saxenda and others pose a serious risk of stomach paralysis, pancreatitis and bowel restrictions. Additionally, Ozempic has proven to have many side effects and can lead to serious health issues like Ileus, malnutrition, blood clots and more. One of its most common side effects is low blood sugar levels. It can cause dizziness, blurring of vision and seizures, which can even be fatal. Ozempic also includes a warning about the increased risk of possible thyroid tumours, including cancer.

Who is really winning?

Ozempic might be a fountain of youth in a bottle, but it can be more than that. It could also be gastrointestinal issues in a bottle. Yes, along with weight loss and wrinkle-free skin, it can also bring you the joys of diarrhoea, nausea, pancreatitis and other issues. And if you just think about it, the idea of sprinting to the bathroom every few minutes doesn’t seem like a great trade to slow ageing.

Researchers have found that bowel restriction issues aren’t mild; they can be medical emergencies. Even though only 1% of the people using Ozempic were diagnosed with stomach paralysis, it translates to a significant number when millions of people are using it. When you choose Ozempic, you are not winning. It’s the big pharma companies who are making millions off your insecurities.

Chasing an impossible dream

If your obsession with youth kills you, is it really worth it? Because that’s all Ozempic will do. If looking like a 20-year-old even when you are 80 is your goal in life, then this miraculous drug might seem irresistible. But take a minute and ask yourself — do you really want to be tied to a weekly medication all your life to achieve something as impossible as staying young forever?

A balanced diet and regular exercise are the only ways to stay healthy and not a trendy pill that’ll kill you slowly.
