Covid-19 is an inevitable part of our lives now, so it is better to stay home and stay safe. And if you have been feeling a little under the weather or going through symptoms of Covid, you must get tested right away. But either way, you need to keep your immunity up to fight off any infection. While your multivitamins and a healthy diet are essential, you can also try these immunity-boosting drinks to keep yourself fit. You really don’t need much beyond the basic stuff that’s already there in your kitchen.

1. Turmeric, Honey, and Lemon Water

Ingredients:

1 tbsp fresh turmeric grated or 2 tsp turmeric powder

4 cups water

1 tbsp lemon juice

Unpasteurised honey to taste

Method:

Boil turmeric with water for 15-20 minutes. Strain and serve this immunity-boosting drink warm with lemon and honey to taste.

2. Ginger Turmeric Tea

Ingredients:

1 cup filtered water

1-inch fresh ginger

2 tsp turmeric powder or 1 tbsp fresh turmeric 

1/2 lemon

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 tsp honey

Method:

Put water into a pan and bring to a boil, then let the water cool down slightly. Chop fresh ginger and turmeric into thin slices. Next, squeeze the juice of the lemon into a mug and add in all the other ingredients. Let the mixture steep for 5 minutes and then remove the ginger and turmeric slices. Enjoy warm.

3. Golden Milk

Ingredients:

2 cups unsweetened almond milk

1/2 cup light coconut milk

2 tbsp raw honey

1 tsp turmeric powder or 1 tbsp fresh turmeric grated

1/2 tsp ginger

1-inch piece of cinnamon

1/2 tsp black pepper powder

Method:

Take a pan and combine all the ingredients in it except honey. Cook the mixture over a low flame for 5-10 minutes but do not bring it to a boil. Remove it from the flame, strain, and add honey to taste. Serve this immunity booster drink right away.

4. Evergreen Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup baby spinach

A handful of mint leaves

1/2 cucumber

1/2 cup curd

A pinch of rock salt

1/4 tsp jeera powder

A piece of amla or 1/2 tsp lemon juice

1 cup ice cubes

Method:

Place all the ingredients in a blender along with ice cubes and blend till smooth. Have this early morning to clear all the toxins and get a boost of energy to start your day.

5. Apple cider vinegar soother

Ingredients:

1 cup water

1-inch ginger peeled and grated

2 tsp unpasteurised apple cider vinegar

1 tsp raw honey

A pinch of cayenne pepper

Method:

Take a pan, boil water in it, and then take it off the stove. To this, add ginger, cover, and steep for 5 minutes. Remove the ginger, add ACV, honey, and cayenne. Mix and sip warm.

6. Masala Tea

Ingredients:

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup milk

1 tbsp tea leaves

2 tsp sugar

1 tbsp grated ginger

2 peppercorns or a pinch of black pepper powder

1-inch cinnamon stick or a pinch of cinnamon powder

2 cloves

1 star anise

1 cardamom pod crushed

A handful of tulsi leaves

Method: 

Take a pan and boil water in it. To that, add ginger, peppercorns, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, cardamom, and tulsi leaves, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Then, add the tea leaves and sugar and simmer it again for about 3-4 minutes. Lastly, add milk and bring the tea to a boil. Strain and serve this masala tea hot.

7. Probiotic Berry Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 and 1/2 cups milk

1 cup greek yogurt

1 and 1/2 cups frozen strawberry

1 and 1/2 cups frozen blueberry

Method:

Take a blender and mix all the ingredients till they form a smooth consistency. Serve this delicious immunity-boosting drink chilled.

8. Kadha

Ingredients:

5 tulsi leaves

10 mint leaves

1 green cardamom

1 black cardamom

1/4 tsp black pepper

1 tbsp ginger

1 tsp cinnamon powder

2 cloves

3 munakke or raisins

2 and 1/2 cups water

Method:

Crush tulsi and mint leaves and place them in a bowl. Then, lightly pound green cardamom, black cardamom, and place them in the same bowl. Next, add ginger, cinnamon, cloves, whole black peppers, munnake (raisins) in the same bowl, and soak them in 4-5 tablespoons of water overnight. The next morning, take a pan and 2 and 1/2 cups of water. Add these soaked ingredients along with water and simmer for 4-5 minutes. Strain and serve it hot.
