Raj & DK are back with another intense and gripping tale after their last hit Family Man. Farzi brings the world of counterfeiting to the screen and shows us what takes place behind the scenes. With a powerful cast including Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhuvan Arora, and Kay Kay Menon, the show keeps you hooked. Here’s our review of Farzi.

Paisa kamaane ki ninja technique– print your own $

When poverty is the villain of your life, how do you kick its ass? Well, you do an Uno reverse and start printing your own money. Simple. And that is what the theme of Farzi is. Sunny (Shahid Kapoor) and Firoz (Bhuvan Arora) are all about using their talent to create the most real fake notes. After all, they are both artists and Sunny’s grandfather owns a printing press, so why not make use of the talent and genius minds to get rich quick?

But not everything is as easy as it seems and there are multiple forces in the series that come together to create an engaging crime thriller. Sunny’s dreams are big and he’s willing to do everything to take control of his destiny. But soon, he ends up being tangled up in the world of gangsters and cops who are gunning for each other’s throats. With Michael (Vijay Sethupathi) running a special task force to catch the biggest supplier of fake currency Mansoor (Kay Kay Menon), things heat up pretty quickly.

A balanced dose of drama, thrill, and comedy

Raj & DK have done a fine job of creating a web series that is equal parts dramatic, thrilling, and funny. The aspirations of people trying to leave their struggles behind and always aiming to be on the top can get a little too real and relatable. That’s why even though Farzi is an 8-episode series, it still keeps you engaged to it with its unpredictable turns and twists in every episode.

The story also provides enough screen time for all of its cast and everyone has done an amazing job. From Vijay playing the drunk but determined cop to Sunny and Firoz being the talented con artists, this cat-and-mouse chase just keeps getting interesting. Also, Kay Kay Menon, as the gangster of the world of counterfeit currency notes, delivers great acting as usual.

Farzi makes for a great weekend binge. It is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
