The untold stories of Tihar Jail
This book-to-screen adaptation uncovers the thin line between right and wrong. Black Warrant is told from the lens of a jailor who’s not even fit to be one in the first place. How does he manage to be a jailor then? Sunil Gupta, who reeks of innocence, convinces everyone to make him the Assistant Superintendent of Police. However, as the brutality of the stingy cells creeps up on him, he realises he does not possess the ‘strong’ demeanour needed for the job. But he can’t go back to nothing because he desperately wants to earn for his family. Black Warrant recounts some of the most infamous stories of Indian criminal history including the Ranga-Billa case. Did these criminals really commit the crimes for which they were punished?
Jail is a circus
Black Warrant showcases the deeply personal and dark reality of everyone behind bars and outside it. The series brings the gruesome stories of Tihar Jail to light where morality gets tested on a daily basis. A place where you can trust everyone yet no one.
