When your parents are global icons like Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, the world expects you to follow in their famous footsteps. Nick Jonas, it turns out, is already seeing sparks of talent in his three-year-old daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. But is he keen on Malti joining the entertainment industry in the future?

Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Nick couldn’t hide his pride or his nervous laughter as he spoke about Malti’s growing love for music. “We have talked about it a lot. It’s going to be her choice. We have a three-year-old, and she loves to sing. I think a career in entertainment is a wonderful career. It’s also scary as a parent to think about all the things that I went through, my wife has gone through in her career. Your one sort of job in life is to protect your kids, but it’s also to let them fly and live their life.”

Yes, she’s only three, but the little one already has fans humming along. Over the past year, Priyanka has delighted followers with adorable clips of Malti.

“She’s not into soccer, though…”

But while music might be a hit with the toddler, not every activity makes the cut. Nick laughed while recalling one attempt that didn’t quite go as planned: “She’s not into soccer, though. We tried to take her to soccer practice, she wasn’t having it.”
He added, “I’m so grateful to my parents for letting us take big risks and chances. I think they did a great job of balancing that support, but also being a little scared at times. So anyway, she’s singing a ton and I’m like, ‘Uh-oh’.”

It’s a refreshingly grounded take from a dad who grew up in the glare of the spotlight himself. Despite their A-list status, both Nick and Priyanka seem committed to letting Malti be herself, whether that means a microphone in hand or simply dancing through life at her own pace.

The couple, who married in a grand cross-cultural celebration in 2018, welcomed their daughter Malti via surrogacy in January 2022. Since then, they’ve kept her mostly away from the public eye, but when little snippets do make it online, little Malti Marie is a hit with the fans.
