If you haven’t been living under a rock, you should be aware of the internet sensation Jasmeen Kaur and her viral ‘Just looking like a wow’ videos. A business owner, Jasmeen Kaur runs a clothing store, Design Machine. The now viral entrepreneur uses the power of social media to market and sell her products. Her description of colours like ‘laddoo peela’, ‘Rama green’, ‘baingani’, etc has amused desis across the world. Even Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh became a part of this trend, like several other celebrities. But apart from the trending audio, there are quite a few things about ‘Just looking like a wow’ that deserve to go viral.
1. Be the trend, don’t follow the trend
While most people just hop on a trend to piggyback on, it’s always better to be the trend. Set your own trends, use your own language, and build an image that is as authentic as you are. Don’t limit yourself because you are worried about what people might think and choose to be your real-est self. After all, your ‘laddoo peela‘ will have more relatability than somebody else’s ‘Naples yellow’ or ‘Arylide yellow’.

2. Be size inclusive
Brands that accommodate larger sizes are too far and few in between. And let’s be honest, there are a lot of plus-sized men and women in our country. Why brands think bigger people shouldn’t be fashionable is beyond me. Having sizes like 5XL or 6XL is only going to elevate your brand and drive up your sales. Your plus size didis also deserve to feel beautiful and look like a wow.
3. Be confident
Confidence is the best jewellery you can wear, sweetheart, so wear it like a crown. Don’t let the world dim your light with their nonsensical views. You know what you are made of and how much hard work you are putting in. So, remember to have faith in yourself, and go kick ass! Look at the confidence that Jasmeen Kaur shows. Get inspired!
4. Change the narrative, pass on your legacy to your daughter
Get out of the 1950s thought process that only your raja beta can take over your business empire. Teach your daughters the business, and give them a chance to take your business to even better heights. You would be surprised at how intuitive and business-minded your daughters are. And for god’s sake, don’t sit around waiting for a damaad if you don’t have a son. Your beti is equally qualified to take your legacy forward.
5. Be entrepreneurial
Learn your marketing skills and figure out what works best for your brand. Don’t hesitate to think outside the box and do something hilariously wild. You never know what might work for you. Put your brains to use, ladies and gentlemen, your marketing skills may just lead you to a Forbes 40 Under 40 list, or at the very least, on a celebrity’s Instagram page. And you gotta know by now, jo dikhta hai, woh hi bikta hai.
Go and just look and feel like a wow, ladies!
