Every time you want a comfort watch and real entertainment, you quickly google classic Bollywood movies. And then, you have to sign up for a subscription to watch it on a small screen in your room. The cycle is exhausting and expensive. As a hardcore Bollywood fan, I feel your pain. But tension nai lene ka because our mental pleas have finally been heard by the Box Office authorities! They have started the saga of re-releasing our favourite Bollywood movies in theatres. Now, we can watch, dance and scream at the top of our lungs with other fans during every nostalgic scene. 

If you want to relive your ’90s era, you shouldn’t miss out on these upcoming theatrical re-releases.

1. Taal

The movie is the passion of Subhash Ghai, as the trailer puts it. Taal explores themes of romance and family intrusion. Manav, the son of a business tycoon, falls in love with a singer, Mansi. Their love goes through a series of tests as Manav’s father insults Mansi and her dad. Deeply hurt by this behaviour, she drifts apart from Manav. Her life takes a new path as she helps her manager, Vikrant, who doesn’t believe in love. Manav, on the other hand, trusts his love and apologises to Mansi, wanting to get back together. Will the two find their way back, or will a new relationship bloom between Mansi and Vikrant?

2. Veer-Zaara

Please clear your schedule and mark your calendars for an exclusive…crying session. Veer-Zaara, the ultimate romance, explores the story of lovers separated by their religion and geographical territory. Veer Pratap Singh, an Indian pilot, falls in love with a Pakistani girl named Zaara Hayaat Khan. When the former is imprisoned in a Pakistani jail with no concrete evidence, Saamiya Siddiqui, a fellow Pakistani lawyer, comes to defend his case and reunite him with his lover. The movie tells a compelling tale of love, separation, courage and sacrifice. The star cast includes Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta, Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee, among others.

3. Tumbbad

The movie is a tale of greed and revenge that transcends fear. A family faces dire repercussions when they construct a shrine exactly where the monster Hastar lives. According to a myth, Hastar should never be worshipped, and anyone who does so faces the wrath of the gods. However, when a family attempts to steal a fortune from that place to escape poverty, Hastar comes out in full force to attack them. Will the monster wipe off the entire human race from that place, or will someone defeat it? The horror story stars Sohum Shah, Jyoti Malshe, Dhundiraj Prabhakar and Harsh K.

4. Gangs of Wasseypur

Ik bagal mein popcorn honge aur ik bagal mein coca cola and a cult classic movie in front of you on a big screen. Seems perfect, right? The first part of Gangs of Wasseypur deals with a fight between Sultan and Shahid Khan, leading to a three-generation blood feud. The second part follows the story of Faizal Khan, the son of Sardar Khan, who waits for his rival Ramadhir Singh to ascend the ladder of politics. The latter is forced to surrender as Faizal Khan builds his empire successfully. Manoj Bajpayee, Piyush Mishra, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, and Huma Qureshi deliver Anurag Kashyap’s brilliance with ease.

5. Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein

Hello, mai Dilli bol raha hun Maddy se, and I am here to own a permanent place in your heart. Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, an all-time classic Bollywood movie, narrates the theme of love as Rajeev is to marry Reena. In an unexpected turn of events, Maddy falls in love at first sight with Reena. In his attempt to make Reena fall for him, he impersonates Rajeev to woo her, but he is not prepared for when the truth will be out. What will be the consequences if Reena finds out? RHTDM stars R. Madhavan, Dia Mirza, Saif Ali Khan, Anupam Kher and other notable actors.

6. Maine Pyar Kiya

Prem Babu is back, and how? Of course, I meant Salman Khan! His soft-boy era swept every girl off her feet. Maine Pyar Kiya portrays the typical love story between two people whose fathers, Karan and Kishen, are childhood best friends. But the friendship takes a backseat when Karan sends his daughter Suman (Bhagyashree) to live with his friend’s family while he earns in Dubai. As Kishen’s son, Prem (Salman Khan)and Suman fall in love, they suffer because of their fathers’ flawed friendship. Do you identify as an old-school romantic? 7. Laila Majnu

The re-telling of the love saga between two forlorn lovers will restore your faith in fate. Imtiaz Ali, through his movie Laila Majnu, teaches the idea of love in its purest and unconditional form. Starring Avinash Tiwary as Qais Bhatt, who later becomes Majnu, and Triptii Dimri as Laila, present remarkable on-screen chemistry. Will the lovers unite or drift apart forever?
