The plot of Search: The Naina Murder Case series

The crime thriller opens with the murder of an innocent teenage girl, Naina Marathe, who is found dead in the boot of a politician’s car. What follows is an intense investigation led by ACP Sanyukta Das. Turns out, this is her last case before she leaves the city to restart her life with her husband and their daughter. And so, an overconfident officer, ACP Jai Kanwal, comes to replace her. Too self-absorbed and an impulsive decision maker, he doesn’t cooperate well with Sanyukta on the case. Together, they navigate a complicated web of murder, high school drama, social media, politics, and of course, professional rivalry. As they begin to investigate, every clue leads to a bigger problem as each suspect hides something. Will Naina’s parents get justice? Will Sanyukta and Jai crack the case before the truth slips away?
Search: The Naina Murder Case series review: A slow burn murder mystery
The series starts strong with an intriguing murder that has several suspects, yet none of them is to blame. The build-up of the case and the characters’ personal lives is slow. Just when you’re about to lose your grip of the case, Sanyukta and Jai’s witty banter pulls you back in. The plot succeeds not only in tackling a mysterious yet gruesome murder but also in subtly calling out Indian politics. Search: The Naina Murder Case also highlights the dark side of social media and AI that’s shaping today’s generation. From lying to their parents to trying to fit into social groups, the teenagers in the series portray the reality of young friendships. With some Gen Z humour and millennial wit between Naina’s friends and the police, the series is an engaging watch.
While the initial episodes feel a bit stretched and some scenes don’t hit as hard as expected, Konkona’s silent charisma elevates the plot. Her character’s savage comebacks to Jai’s childish moves keep the investigation unpredictable and engaging.
Search: The Naina Murder Case: The cast

Konkona Sen Sharma as ACP Sanyukta is the heart of the series. Even though the script doesn’t do justice to her talent, she carries the plot effortlessly with her powerful acting. Surya Sharma nails his role as ACP Jai Kanwal. While his character can be a walking headache at times, that very energy keeps things light in the show. Search: The Naina Murder Case also features Dhruv Sehgal, who brings his signature charm. Other actors, including Shiv Panditt, Varun Thakur, Shraddha Das, Iravati Harshe, Mukul Chadda, and Madhurima Ghosh, shine in their supporting roles.
