- Milk – 1 cup
- Sea salt – to taste
- Banana – 1 bowl (chopped slices)
Method:
- All you need to do is add the oats to a bowl and pour milk in it. Warm up the milk slightly if you prefer it that way.
- Add some salt to taste and stir to ensure the salt is evenly mixed.
- Finally, add chopped slices of banana to the mixture.

Method:
- In a medium-sized pot, add oats, milk, chia seeds, flax seeds, cinnamon powder, and salt.
- Mix well and cook the ingredients on medium flame till it thickens to a porridge-like consistency.

3. Oatmeal pancakes

- Oats – 1/2 cup
- Sooji – 1/2 cup
- Milk – 1 cup
- Salt – 1 pinch
- Honey – 2 tbsp
Method:
- In a bowl, add oats and sooji, and mix well.
- Gradually pour in the milk and honey to make a smooth paste.
- Finally, add a pinch of salt to the batter and mix well.
- On a hot pan, add one scoop of the batter in the shape of a round pancake.
- Cook it on medium flame till it turns light brown before flipping it. Cooking it on a medium flame will ensure that it cooks thoroughly through the centre too.
- Once the pancake is cooked well from both sides, take it off the flame.

You will need:
- Roasted rolled oats – 1 cup
- Water – 1 cup
- Oil – 1.5 tbsp
- Salt – according to taste
- Assorted chopped vegetables – 3/4 cup
- Onions (chopped) – 1/2 cup
- Green chillies – 2
- Grated coconut (optional)
- Turmeric – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 2 tsp
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
- Ginger and garlic paste – 2 tsp
- Lemon juice – 2 tsp
Method:
- In a hot wok, heat the oil and add curry leaves, ginger and garlic paste, onions, and green chillies, and saute them till the onions turn golden brown.
- Add the assorted chopped vegetables, salt, coriander powder, and turmeric, and saute further for five minutes.
- Once the vegetables are cooked, add the roasted oats and water, and mix well. Cover and cook the upma on low flame till the water is absorbed by the oats.
- Turn off the gas and let the upma cool before you add the lemon juice and grated coconut as garnish.
5. Oats uthappam

Uthappam is another South Indian delicacy that can be given a quick tweak for an amazing oats breakfast recipe.
You will need:
- Oats – 1/2 cup
- Sooji – 1/2 cup
- Salt – according to taste
- Curd – 3 tbsp
- Lemon juice – 2 tsp
- Baking soda – 1 pinch
Method:
- Mix all your ingredients in a bowl and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- On a greased hot pan, add a portion of the uthappam batter and lightly spread it around to make a thin layer.
- Let the uthappam cook on a low flame till it turns golden brown on the bottom. Flip and cook in a similar manner to give it a slight crisp on both sides.
- Take it off the pan and follow the same procedure for the rest of the batter. You can make about 4-5 uthappams with these quantities.
Tip: To make the uthappam more interesting, you can also add chopped tomatoes, onions, and other assorted vegetables in the batter.
