Skincare in the summer can be a challenge. The products are different, routines completely change, and your skin keeps nagging you if you ignore it for too long. We’ve learnt this the hard way. So, to make yours and our lives easier, we made summer skincare at home the theme of our June 2020 calendar. This year, we don’t have the option of rushing to the salon at the drop of a hat, so we need to take care of our skin ourselves. And you do too. Download this calendar, print it out (if needed), and remind yourself of one task every day which will go a long way in keeping your skin healthy and glowing.

Here’s a sneak peek at what we have in store for you in All About Eve’s June 2020 calendar.

1. Don’t forget to wear your sunscreen

You may not be stepping out much, but that doesn’t mean you stop wearing sunscreen. There may not be any need to refresh it through the day at home, but you should wear sunscreen once a day, even at home. While you’re not in the sun directly, the rays coming in to your home can damage your skin in the long run. According to dermatologists, your skin needs protection from the blue light of your screens as well which can cause dark spots.

2. Exfoliated recently? Wait at least three days to do it again

Over-exfoliation can irritate your skin and cause breakouts. If you exfoliated yesterday, or the day before, wait! You should not exfoliate more than twice a week. Most of the time, once a week is enough, especially in dry weather.

3. Add a Vitamin C product to your skincare routine

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which helps regenerate your skin. A good Vitamin C serum will help fix problems like an uneven skin tone, acne scars, dullness and roughness. It’s also really refreshing to put Vitamin C on tired, damaged skin.

4. Give up caffeine for a day

Yes, caffeine keeps us going on the toughest days. But it’s not great for you in the long run. Apart from its effects on your health, caffeine can also affect your skin adversely. If you have acne-prone skin, you should definitely try going caffeine-free since it can aggravate acne. And if you’re used to a cup of coffee in the evening, stop. It may be messing with your sleep cycle, and your skin needs its daily rest.

5. Snack on watermelon to hydrate

This is one of the most delicious ways to hydrate. If you can’t bring yourself to drink eight to 10 glasses of water a day, watermelon is a great addition to your diet. This fruit is also loaded with antioxidants and vitamins which your skin will love.

6. Ditch chemicals, use rose water as a toner

An inexpensive solution to many skin problems, rose water is a much better toner than most others. It soothes inflamed skin and controls build-up of excess oil. Because of this, rose water is great for acne-prone skin. And if you have sensitive skin, this might be the best thing you can do for it.

7. Don’t pop that pimple

It’s tempting, isn’t it? But make a pledge today to never pop a pimple again. Not only does this really hurt, popping a pimple leaves behind a scar that will stay for months. And if you just let it be, pimples generally go away in a few days. It might have a white head and it may be pulsating, but let that pimple run its natural course.

8. Add an almond oil massage to your bedtime routine

After a long, tiring day, your skin needs some TLC. When you’re winding down and getting ready for bed, give yourself an almond oil massage. This is especially helpful for people with dry skin since almond oil is a rich source of Vitamin E.

9. Take time out to meditate

When you’re stressed, it shows on your face. Similarly, when you’re relaxed and stress-free, your skin will do a lot better. Several skin problems get aggravated with stress, and a great way to fix this is through meditation. Try different techniques till you find what’s right for you, and take at least 30 minutes out of your day to relax in a quiet environment.

10. Make ashwagandha a part of your diet

Ashwagandha is one of the best home remedies for acne and its scars. And since it’s natural, it doesn’t subject your skin to any harsh chemicals. It has many antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that help the skin fight off further infections and acne. The collagen present in Ashwagandha helps reduce scars and improves the texture of the skin.
