After years of intense, nail-biting drama, Prime Video’s Mirzapur has finally announced a leap from series to cinema. The makers of the series have announced Mirzapur: The Film. Prime Video India shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Abhishek Banerjee, and Divyenndu, with the caption: Diwali pe sabko mithai milti hai, lekin yeh lo, Mirzapur ki asli barfi 🔥

Since its debut, Mirzapur has captivated audiences with its gritty portrayal of power struggles, family feuds, and intense drama. The third season of the series was released in July 2024 and was a resounding success. Following this, the decision to take Mirzapur to theatres seems like a natural progression.
But the one thing that has the fanbase supremely excited is the hint at Munna Bhaiya’s (Divyenndu) revival, along with his loyal ally, Compounder (Abhishek Banerjee). Munna Bhaiya’s character was killed in the second season of the series. In the video, Divyenndu said, “Hindi film ke hero hain be hum, aur Hindi film toh theatre me hi dekhi jaati hai na. Bole the na hum amar hain.”
After rumours of Hrithik Roshan replacing Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, seeing the OG Kaleen Bhaiya in the video is a relief for fans. However, despite being an important character, Golu Pandit (Shweta Tripathi) was not seen in the video.
When is the film releasing?
Created by Puneet Krishna, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and produced by Excel Entertainment, the Mirzapur film is scheduled to be released in 2026. The exact date has not been revealed yet but we are sure that Mirzapur: The Film will take the narrative to a new, larger-than-life level.
Producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment said in a statement, “It is a landmark milestone for us to bring the quintessential Mirzapur experience to our audiences, yet again, but this time on the big screen. We believe that adapting such a treasured series into a film will undoubtedly make for an even more engrossing watch, allowing audiences to immerse themselves in the world of Mirzapur like never before.”
