Delhi Crime Season 1 recap

The first season of Delhi Crime opens with a hauntingly heartbreaking case. Based on the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, the series follows DCP Vartika Chaturvedi (Shefali Shah) as she leads her team through an investigation that shook the nation. The case follows Deepika and her friend Akash, who are found battered and left by the roadside in the dead of night. Soon, Vartika assembles her team, including Inspector Bhupendra Singh (Rajesh Tailang), Inspector Jairaj (Adil Hussain), and Sub-Inspector Neeti Singh (Rasika Dugal). Upon further investigation, they discover that Jai Singh, a bus driver, along with his fellow men, has brutally gang raped Deepika.

When this truth nearly shakes Vartika and her team to their core, they encounter other leads that draw them into Delhi’s heinous underbelly. As the investigation unfolds, Vartika’s team faces several challenges, including public pressure, media leaks, and political chaos that complicates the case for them. By the end, even though Vartika and her team catch all six perpetrators, there’s no sense of triumph, only exhaustion. Jai kills himself in prison while the court releases Sonu, a juvenile, after three years. The court sentences the rest of the criminals to death. Even though Vartika and her team serve justice to Deepika, the scars run deep for all of them.

Delhi Crime Season 2 recap

The second season of Delhi Crime begins with yet another wave of terror sweeping through Delhi. Turns out, a series of brutal murders of elderly residents is happening in affluent colonies. This fictional case is inspired by the Kachcha Baniyan gang, a group infamous for targeting senior citizens. DCP Vartika and her trusted team are called in once again to piece together a mystery. The investigation leads the team to a marginalised community that was once accused of similar crimes decades ago. But Vartika isn’t convinced. With pressure building from all sides, Vartika struggles to find the real criminals.

Similarly, Sub-Inspector Neeti Singh juggles between her personal life and job, questioning the moral cost of every arrest. As the team digs deeper, they uncover a small gang led by Thermal, Babloo, and Lata, who commit the murders out of desperation and greed, not malice. By the end, we get to know that Babloo and Thermal were against further murders. But Lata secretly carries out another one as she wants to open a parlour. When they try to confront her, she kills them impulsively. DCP Vartika finally tracks down Lata and imprisons her. Turns out, Lata started the Kachcha Baniyan gang to fulfil her greed and to get what she thought she deserved through vicious crimes. Delhi Crime Season 2 also shows the huge disparity between the elites and the underprivileged community.

Delhi Crime Season 3 promises another gripping thriller, featuring DCP Vartika sharper than ever. Joining the cast this time is Huma Qureshi, whose role as an antagonist is already creating a buzz.
