After a long day of fasting, there’s nothing better than breaking your fast with a spread of delicious food. But we don’t always have the time or energy to spend hours in the kitchen. We need something quick, flavourful, and wholesome on days like these. If you’re looking for simple yet satisfying iftar recipes, here are a few options that will have your dastarkhwan brimming with goodness in no time.
1. Aaloo kachalu recipe

Ingredients:
2 boiled potatoes, diced
1 tsp chaat masala
1/2 tsp rock salt
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
Fresh coriander, chopped
1 tsp lemon juice
Method:
Mix the diced potatoes with all the spices. Garnish with coriander and a squeeze of lemon. Serve chilled or at room temperature for a refreshing chaat.
2. Mangalore bajji recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
1 tsp finely chopped ginger
3 tbsp yoghurt (sour)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 green chilli, finely chopped
Salt to taste
2 tbsp chopped coriander
Water (as needed)
Oil for frying
Method:
In a big bowl, add maida, yoghurt, ginger, green chilli and coriander. Add salt and mix all ingredients to form a thick batter. Let it rest for 30 minutes. Heat oil and drop spoonfuls of the batter in. Fry until golden brown. Serve hot with coconut chutney or ketchup.
3. Chickpea chaat recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup boiled chickpeas
1 small onion, chopped
2 small green chillies, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1/2 tsp chaat masala
1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
1 cup boiled potato, chopped
1 cup cucumber, chopped
Fresh coriander, chopped
1 tsp lemon juice
Method:
Toss all ingredients together in a bowl. Adjust spices according to taste. Serve immediately for a fresh, tangy kick.
4. Corn chaat recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup boiled sweet corn
1/2 tsp chaat masala
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp lemon juice
Fresh coriander, chopped
Pomegranate seeds (optional)
Method:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Adjust seasoning as needed. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Note: If you want more crunch, you can also fry the corn before making the chaat.
5. Chicken patties recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup shredded boiled chicken
1 green chilli, finely chopped
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp breadcrumbs
1 egg (for coating)
Oil for shallow frying
Method:
Mix all ingredients together except the egg. After mixing it well, shape it into patties, dip it in beaten egg, and shallow fry until golden. Serve with mint chutney or ketchup.
Fasting can be tough, but iftar recipes don’t have to be!
