Missing the regular visits to the salon to get your eyebrows done? Well, since we’re social distancing and isolating, most of us are finding it hard to maintain our beauty routine. But that doesn’t mean you have to let your brows defy your will and grow in every direction. Get your tools out, it’s time to be aatmanirbhar. You can either tweeze your brows or wax them, depending on how you have them styled at the salon. Here’s how to do your eyebrows at home and get them on fleek without going to a salon.

If you are tweezing or plucking your eyebrows, follow these steps to get it right:
1. Clean your face first
The first and foremost step to dealing with your own eyebrows at home is to clean your face. Wash it with a gentle cleanser, or take a little steam, as it softens the hair. This will make it easier to pluck ingrown hair without irritating the skin. Make sure your eyebrows aren’t oily and dab a little powder before starting the process.
2. Pluck along the natural shape of your brows
Okay, we know many of you are new at this, but it’s really not that hard. All you have to do is pluck the stray hair above and below your natural shape. If you find it easier, you can draw on your natural shape with some black or white kajal. This will act as your guide as to how to go along the shape of your eyebrows.
3. Make sure you are doing it right
First of all, don’t start with a pair of tweezers that are not flat and sharp at the end. If you have a plucker with a blunt end, it might take longer as they are not really effective. It will be difficult to grab and pull your hair with blunt ends, so make sure you have a wide and flat pair to make your work easier. Next, to get a good grip, hold your plucker from the lowest point in order to get more control.
4. Pull out the hair in the same direction as the growth
You don’t want to pull the hair against the direction of the growth because that can hurt and lead to ingrown hair. So, try to grip the hair from as close to the skin as possible and pull in the direction of the growth. If you keep pulling it in all directions, you are going to have to keep tugging which can get really frustrating.
5. Go slow and hold your skin firmly
Take a deep breath as this is going to take some time, and don’t rush. You might end up hurting yourself. Pull your skin firmly to remove the maximum stray hair, it also hurts less this way. Go slow, and pull out one hair at a time to make it easier. Don’t try to get at the hair which is close to your brows. You could end up making your eyebrows uneven in your pursuit of perfection.
6. Don’t forget to hydrate your skin
Plucking brows will make your skin a little inflamed and irritated, so make sure you soothe it. You can apply a little aloe vera gel as it helps cool the skin. Another option is to use a light oil to gently massage your skin and reduce the irritation.

Here is a quick tutorial to know how to tweeze your eyebrows at home:
If you are not a fan of plucking your eyebrows, you can also wax them at home. Here’s how:
1. Try waxing strips or hard wax
If you are doing this for the first time, we’ll be honest with you. Things can get a little messy, but don’t worry. Just get some hard wax or wax strips to ease the process. They are better for sensitive skin and are not as messy.
2. Clean your face
You don’t want to keep applying wax strips and pulling your skin repeatedly. So, make sure your face is clean and exfoliated. Apply some powder to your eyebrows to soak up any oil or moisture from your skin.
3. Apply the wax and pull it out in the right direction
It is important to understand the method of doing this before starting. You have to take a small amount of wax and make sure it is hot. Now, apply it in the same direction as your growth, slowly. Let it harden for five seconds and pull it out in the opposite direction of your growth. Go slow! And don’t forget to hold your skin firmly when you are applying and pulling off the wax.
4. Hydrate your skin
Once you are done waxing, clean your eyebrows with after-wax strips or take a little coconut oil to clean up. Then wash your face with cold water and apply some aloe vera gel or grapeseed oil. This will soothe the inflamed and irritated skin quickly.
