The Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025, has left the entire nation devastated. The flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick carried 242 people, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Of these, 241 people on the flight have lost their lives in the crash. Among those who never made it home was 27-year-old flight attendant and content creator Roshni Rajendra Songhare.

Ahmedabad crash: The crew members of AI171
The fatal accident at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport also claimed the lives of 11 other crew members. As reported by Hindustan Times, Captain Sumeet Sabharwal was the commander of the flight. His co-pilot was Clive Kunder, who was also Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey’s family friend. The latter expressed his grief about Kunder’s death on his Instagram stories. The other crew members included Shradha Dhavan, Aparna Mahadik, Saineeta Chakravarti, Nganthoi Kongbrailatpam Sharma, Deepak Pathak, Maithili Patil, Irfan Shaikh, Lamnunthem Singson, Roshni Songhare Rajendra, and Manisha Thapa.
The uncertain lives of air crew
This plane crash has, once again, revealed how uncertain life can be for those working in aviation. It reflects the courage their families have to build over time when their loved ones pursue such professions. Their families constantly fear the worst possible outcomes and silently pray for their loved ones. Flight crew, on the other hand, have to be on high alert throughout their shift because the smallest misstep can cost hundreds of lives. Even then, people in aviation continue to be courageous and resilient, risking their lives to do their duty.
Journalist Barkha Dutt wrote a message of support for Air India crew in her latest Instagram post. She captioned the post saying, “This is an @airindia appreciation post. Just boarded flight from Newark to Delhi, heartbroken crew doing best to be professional, smile through tears / whatever be management issues, AI pilots & cabin crew best, warmest, bravest I’ve ever met. God bless in this time of grief.”
