The year 2021 has been weird. Whether it was the uncertainty of the pandemic or the mental health impact of the plethora of other things happening in the world, these past 12 months have not been easy on anyone. Music, however, provides much-needed solace in such tough times. Soft Sufi music or dhinchak dance numbers, we loved them all this year. Though we were subjected to a lot of nonsensical songs or badly done remixes, 2021 also saw some really good songs come out. Here’s the list of our top favourite Bollywood songs of 2021.

1. Raataan Lambiyan

The nights seem too long when one is without their beloved, and this is an emotion many of us have felt since the era of lockdowns began. Tanishk Bagchi, with his soulful lyrics, put this aching feeling into words. Sung melodiously by Jubin Nautiyal and Asees Kaur, Raataan Lambiyan from the movie Shershaah is one of our favourites.

2. Ranjha

Another gem from Shershaah, this song never fails to make us emotional. How do you say goodbye to the love of your life after you finally find them? The song becomes even more emotional when you see it in the context of the movie. Composed by Jasleen Royal, the bittersweet song is sung by B Praak and Jasleen Royal.

3. Har Funn Maula

This song is one sexy and catchy number we couldn’t get enough of. The voices of Vishal Dadlani and Zara Khan matched the vibe of the song so perfectly. Elli AvrRam’s dance added the extra oomph to the song.

4. Main Hoon Na Tere Saath

Main Hoon Na Tere Saath, from the movie Saina, is a melodious love song that promises to stand by you through thick and thin. Sung by the talented Armaan Malik, it’s a song that will definitely make you feel happy and loved.

5. Mehram

Mehram, from the upcoming Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey, is a song about chasing a dream against all odds. Sung by Sachet Tandon, the song is powerfully emotive. Just the perfect song to close 2021.

6. Lehra Do

Bollywood has made a business out of making biopics, and the latest addition to the list is 83. This Kapil Dev biopic, starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, dropped a sports anthem a while ago, and we can’t help but feel emotional every time we hear it. Sung by Arijit Singh, Lehra Do will be sure to evoke the patriot in you.
