Have you ever woken up just 15 minutes before sehri ends and panicked about what you can whip up quickly that’s also filling? This situation is even worse if you live alone and have to manage it all by yourself. But skipping sehri or eating something too light usually leads to hunger, low energy, and that awful mid-afternoon slump. So, for sehri, if you want something that is quick, easy, and helps sustain you for an entire day of corporate labour, you have arrived at the right place. Here are quick sehri recipes for Ramadan that are easy to make, filling, and perfect for busy mornings

1. Banana, peanut butter, oats bowl recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup milk

1/2 cup rolled oats

1 banana, sliced

1 tablespoon peanut butter

A drizzle of honey (optional)

Method:

Add oats and milk to a bowl and microwave for two to three minutes (or soak overnight). Top with banana slices and peanut butter. Drizzle with honey if you like a little sweetness. Save this recipe for when you want something super healthy and low effort.

2. Date smoothie recipe

Ingredients:

1 banana

3-4 dates (pitted)

1 cup milk or almond milk

1 tablespoon oats or peanut butter

A few ice cubes (optional)

Method:

In a blender, add all the ingredients and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and drink slowly. If you wish, garnish with pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, or sesame seeds.

Date smoothie is an excellent sehri option as it provides energy, keeps you full, and helps with hydration.

3. Chicken corn cheese sandwich recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups diced chicken

Bread slices

1 cup sweet corn

Shredded cheese (as desired)

Butter

Oregano (optional)

Mayonnaise or yoghurt

Salt

Pepper 

Method:

Heat butter in a pan and cook chicken with salt, pepper and oregano until nearly done. Transfer the chicken to a plate and, in the same pan, add a little more butter and sauté the corn for two minutes. Stir in mayo or yoghurt and seasoning. Add cheese and allow it to melt. Then return the chicken to the pan and mix well. Spread the filling onto a slice of bread and toast lightly until golden.

4. Oats omelette recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup oats

2 eggs

1 cup chopped spinach

Red chilli powder

Salt

Pepper

Ghee, oil or butter

Method:

In a bowl, mix oats, spinach, egg, chilli powder, salt and pepper well. Heat ghee or oil in a pan, pour in the mixture, and cook on both sides until golden and cooked through.

This is a great sehri recipe as it is rich in fibre and protein and keeps you full for hours.

5. Yoghurt dates and nut bowl recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup thick yoghurt

3 chopped dates

1 tablespoon chopped almonds or walnuts

1 teaspoon honey (optional)

Method:

Add all the ingredients to a bowl, mix gently, and enjoy.

This is perfect for busy mornings when you don’t want to cook but still want something healthy and filling.

6. Oats and sweet potato chilla recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup oats

1 small sweet potato, mashed

2 tablespoons yoghurt

Salt and pepper

Red chilli powder

Turmeric powder

Cumin powder

Water as needed

Oil for cooking

Method:

Blend oats into a fine powder, and mix with mashed sweet potato and yoghurt. Slowly add water to form a thick batter. Add spices and mix well. Heat a greased pan, pour the batter, and spread gently. Cook until golden and crisp on both sides.

7. Creamy chickpea salad recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup boiled chickpeas

A bowl of yoghurt

1 onion (diced)

Cucumber (diced)

Pinch of cumin powder

Salt

Black pepper

Method:

In a bowl, mix yoghurt with salt, pepper, cumin powder, and lemon juice. Add chickpeas, cucumber, and onion, and mix well. This is one of the easiest sehri recipes. 

You can eat it fresh or prepare it the night before and lightly reheat it during sehri. It’s filling, refreshing, and packed with protein.

Note: Make sure your sehri dishes are high in protein, as protein keeps you satiated. Try to add yoghurt to your sehri as it helps with hydration and keeps you full.
