From shimmering sarees to bold brocade capes, Indian celebrities brought serious style to the Cannes red carpet this year. With a mix of tradition and high fashion, each outfit told its own story and the designers behind them made sure no detail was missed. Let’s take a closer look at the best Indian celebrity looks at the Cannes Film Festival 2025.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
No Cannes fashion roundup is complete without Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. For her 22nd appearance (yes, you read that right), she opted for timeless elegance in a custom Manish Malhotra Banarasi saree in pristine white and gold. Styled with a rich ruby necklace and the unmistakable flash of sindoor, she was the very picture of regality.

The next day, ARB re-emerged in a black velvet gown by Gaurav Gupta. Layered with a handwoven Banarasi brocade cape made in Varanasi, and paired with her signature red lip, it was a high-fashion moment with heart.

Janhvi Kapoor
Making her Cannes debut with her film Homebound, Janhvi Kapoor was a picture of poised glamour. Her first look, a custom skirt and corset by Tarun Tahiliani, was made from real tissue and woven in Varanasi. The silhouette was contemporary, but the fabric screamed heritage.
And she didn’t stop there. A backless Anamika Khanna ensemble with a mint-green skirt, a gem-studded back chain and classic jhumkas brought the perfect Indo-western fusion to the carpet.
Bonus points for her amfAR gala appearance, where she paired an archival 1989 YSL jacket and sculptural hat with an Anamika Khanna skirt. It was retro, it was bold, it was brilliant.

Aditi Rao Hydari
Few do grace like Aditi Rao Hydari, and her ombré gown by Rahul Mishra proved just that. The figure-hugging silhouette glimmered under the Cannes lights, while a delicate Chopard necklace added just the right amount of sparkle. Soft and elegant.

Natasha Poonawalla
When Natasha Poonawalla walks a red carpet, she doesn’t walk; she makes an entrance. This time, it was in a Dior number from John Galliano’s India-inspired Spring/Summer collection. But true to form, she doubled down with a jacket from Dior’s Fall/Winter 2002 archives. Nobody mixes avant-garde and tradition quite like Natasha.

For her amfAR gala appearance, Natasha Poonawalla opted for a gold foil Balenciaga gown. The off-shoulder dress hugged her figure and flowed into a dramatic train, making her shine like a star. It was bold, glamorous, and totally her style. This was truly one of the best looks of Cannes 2025.

Ishaan Khatter
Ishaan Khatter gave us a modern take on royalty in a Gaurav Gupta velvet bandhgala, embroidered with black zardozi. It was the perfect example of how Indian men can bring just as much fire to the carpet as the ladies.
And if that wasn’t enough, he switched it up later with a sepia-toned vintage Armani vest ensemble, styled by Alexander Roth. A fusion of old-school Italian tailoring and new-gen Indian charm, topped off with Messika jewellery.

Karan Johar
No one does glitter and glamour quite like KJo. In his first appearance, we saw him in a sleek, custom Manish Malhotra suit paired with an Omega Speedmaster 38mm because accessories matter, darling.
For his second look, he turned to Rohit Bal for a custom embroidered three-piece number featuring delicate rose motifs. It reportedly took over 410 hours to make, and it showed. Johar looked every inch the fashion connoisseur he is.
Karan Johar’s third look at Cannes was all about timeless British luxury with a bold edge. Dressed in a handcrafted Helen Anthony suit made on Savile Row, the outfit took nearly 100 hours to bring to life. Made from premium British velvet, in collaboration with the iconic fabric mill Scabal, the suit oozed heritage and craftsmanship.

Alia Bhatt
For her Cannes debut, Alia donned a romantic pastel gown from Schiaparelli’s Spring 2025 Couture Collection. The dress featured intricate floral embroidery and delicate lace details, exuding vintage charm. She complemented the look with a sleek bun and minimal accessories, allowing the gown to take centre stage.

For her second look, Alia chose a classic black Armani Prive off-shoulder gown that was all about quiet elegance. The look was simple, stylish, and showed off her natural grace, perfect for the red carpet.

India’s presence at Cannes 2025 was a fashion moment we won’t forget anytime soon.
