Picantes have been a mood all year round, but with the winter season kicking in, we could all use a fiery holiday cocktail. So, if your vibe is citrus with a dash of spice, a kick of heat balanced by fruity and floral sweetness, grab your shaker. Here are some of the best picante cocktail recipes that will be the talk of every party.

1. Classic Picante

Ingredients:

50 ml reposado or blanco tequila

3 tbsp fresh lime juice

2 tbsp agave syrup

2 red chillies, deseeded and thinly sliced

Handful of fresh coriander

1 tbsp salt for the rim

Ice cubes

Method:

Take a shaker and muddle the chillies and coriander in it along with the lime juice. Pour in tequila and agave syrup and fill the shaker with ice cubes. Then close the lid and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds. Once done, prepare your glass by coating the rim with a little bit of lime juice and salt. Strain your picante into the glass. Garnish with some coriander, and you have the perfect holiday cocktail ready to be served.

2. Pineapple Jalapeño Picante

Ingredients:

50 ml tequila

50 ml white rum

60 ml pineapple juice

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp agave syrup or sugar syrup

2 jalapenos, thinly sliced

A dash of Cajun spice or cayenne pepper for the rim

Ice cubes

Method:

In a shaker, add lemon juice along with the jalapenos and muddle lightly. Then add the rest of the ingredients with lots of ice in the shaker. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds and then strain into an ice-filled glass. Before straining the drink, prepare the rim of your glass by dipping it lightly in lemon juice and then coating it with Cajun spice or cayenne pepper for that extra heat.

3. Mango Chilli Picante

Ingredients:

30 ml vodka (optional)

50 ml tequila

50 gms of mango pulp or 50 ml mango juice

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp agave syrup or honey

1-2 jalapenos or red chillies, thinly sliced

Ice cubes

Method:

In a shaker, add jalapenos or chillies and the mango pulp and muddle lightly. Add the rest of the ingredients next and shake well till everything is blended nicely. Then fill a glass with ice cubes and strain the drink into it. Now, enjoy one of the best picante cocktail recipes for the holiday season and garnish it with some extra jalapeno slices to spice it up.

4. Spiced Orange Picante

Ingredients:

50 ml dark rum (optional)

60 ml tequila

50 ml orange juice

1 tsp cinnamon powder

1-2 jalapenos, thinly spiced

Ice cubes

Cajun spice for the rim

1 tsp lime juice for the rim

Method:

Take a shaker and add chilli, cinnamon powder, tequila, and rum to it. Muddle everything. Add orange juice and ice and shake it well for about 15 seconds. Take a fresh glass, coat the rim with lime juice and Cajun spice, and fill it with ice. Strain and enjoy your flavourful, bold orange-spiced picante.

5. Cucumber Chilli Picante

Ingredients:

50 ml tequila

50 ml gin (optional)

Handful of thinly sliced cucumber slices

2 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp agave or sugar syrup

1-2 jalapenos or green chillies, thinly sliced

Ice cubes

Salt for the rim

Method:

In a shaker, muddle cucumber slices, jalapenos or green chillies, and lemon juice. To this, add the rest of the ingredients along with ice and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. Take a glass and rim it with some lemon juice and salt. Add ice before straining the refreshing cucumber picante into it.

6. Passionfruit Chilli Picante

Ingredients:

50 ml tequila

3 tbsp passionfruit puree or 50 ml passionfruit juice

2 tbsp agave or sugar syrup

1 tbsp lemon juice

1-2 jalapenos or red chillies, thinly sliced

1 tbsp chilli salt or tajin for the rim

Ice cubes

Method:

In a shaker, add everything and fill it up with a generous amount of ice. Shake it vigorously for 15 seconds till everything comes together. Then, take a fresh glass and rim it with lemon juice and chilli salt or tajin for the extra kick. Pour the drink into the glass and enjoy a spicy and fruity picante.

7. Mixed Berry Picante

50 ml vodka (optional)

50 ml tequila

4 tbsp mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)

2 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp agave, sugar syrup or honey

1 thinly sliced red chilli

Ice cubes

Method:

For those who love a fruity and sweet picante with a dash of spice to keep things interesting, this is one of the best picante cocktail recipes to try. In a shaker, muddle the berries and chillies together and then add the rest of the ingredients. Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake it well before straining it into a fresh glass filled with ice.
