We all want that glow-from-within skin, but spending thousands on fancy serums and exfoliants isn’t exactly appealing. Once you hit 30, though, that little voice in your head starts whispering “anti-ageing” every time you look in the mirror. And sure, skincare helps, but the real magic happens on your plate. So while you keep pampering your skin on the outside, let’s also feed it from the inside. Luckily, you don’t need exotic ingredients or expensive supplements for that; your kitchen already has some powerful anti-ageing foods waiting for you.

1. Olive oil

Extra virgin olive oil is full of monounsaturated fats and antioxidants that protect your cells from premature ageing. It keeps your skin soft, your joints flexible, and your heart strong. Cook your sabzi in it or drizzle it over salads. A spoonful a day goes a long way.

2. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are full of lycopene, an antioxidant that protects the skin from UV damage and supports collagen production. So, your tomato curry or pasta with olive oil? Totally anti-ageing approved.

3. Black coffee

Hard to believe, but it’s true, black coffee, when consumed in moderation, can actually slow the signs of ageing. It’s loaded with antioxidants that help protect skin from UV damage and stimulate blood flow. Just remember that only black coffee counts.

4. Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes (especially the purple ones) are rich in beta-carotene. Your body converts beta-carotene to vitamin A, which is essential for smooth, glowing skin. They also help repair skin damage caused by pollution and sun exposure.

5. Turmeric

Turmeric is a legit elixir. No matter what you’re struggling with, turmeric will likely help you. Similarly, it’s an anti-ageing hero in disguise. Its active compound, curcumin, fights inflammation and oxidative stress, which are the two key causes of wrinkles and dullness.

6. Oranges

Avocados and kiwis are expensive, so oranges come to your rescue. Vitamin C-rich foods like oranges are collagen’s best friend. They fight free radicals, brighten the complexion, and keep your skin supple. Plus, they’re hydrating, which means fewer fine lines and dull days. However, eat it as a fruit; no juices allowed.

7. Nuts and seeds

Omega-3 is quite important to keep your skin supple and healthy. From almonds and walnuts to flaxseeds and chia, nuts and seeds are a rich source of healthy fats, Vitamin E, and zinc, and all of them are essential for maintaining elasticity and preventing dryness. But eat the nuts unsalted.

8. Papaya

Papaya is like a mini facial in fruit form. It’s rich in enzymes like papain that gently exfoliate dead skin cells and keep your complexion smooth. It’s also full of Vitamins A, C, and E for that dewy, natural glow. Eating a papaya also keeps your gut healthy, which in turn shows on your skin.

9. Bone Broth

foods for glowing skin

Though not a traditional Indian staple, bone broth has found a place in modern wellness. It’s packed with collagen, amino acids, and minerals that support skin elasticity, gut health, and joint strength. If you are a non-vegetarian, bone broth is an excellent anti-ageing food for you!

9. Garlic

We often overlook garlic and its skin benefits. It boosts blood circulation, making sure your skin gets the oxygen and nutrients it needs to stay youthful. Plus, it’s naturally anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal, meaning it will help reduce puffiness and acne.
