Code Name Tiranga is the latest in the action-thriller genre starring Parineeti Chopra in the lead. The movie is creating quite a buzz as it has a woman playing a rough and edgy spy from RAW. But does it leave an impact and stay with you once you’ve walked out of the theatre? Read our Code Name Tiranga review to find out.
A meticulous mission that’s WIP for 20 years
Durga (Parineeti Chopra) is an undercover RAW agent who lands in Afghanistan on a mission to catch the dreaded terrorist Khalid Omar (Sharad Kelkar). RAW has been looking for him since he attacked the Indian Parliament in 2001 and it’s a do-or-die mission. And since Durga is the best at her job, she takes up the assignment and goes hunting Omar. But due to some unforeseen circumstances, Durga ends up falling in love with Dr Mirza Ali (Harrdy Sandhu) who she is supposed to use for her mission. In a turn of events, someone from inside the RAW team tips off Khalid Omar that he will be attacked. This makes him flee, leaving Durga to chase him and leave behind Mirza for her mission.
A patriotic story that turns into a tale of vengeance quickly
After losing Omar in Afghanistan, Durga is on her feet to get another opportunity to go after him. And once she gets it, she wastes no time and lands in Turkey to finish her business. In the middle of the chaos and action, Omar’s wife Meryem gets killed. Now, he is out to seek vengeance from Durga. Meanwhile, Durga ends up in Mirza’s clinic after being attacked which makes them cross paths again.
Great performances that could have been more impactful
Parineeti makes a commendable effort in Code Name Tiranga and plays her role well. But sometimes, she overdoes it or stays too rigid to emote what Durga feels. But she is given great support by co-actor Harrdy Sandhu as Mirza who brings playful and innocent chemistry to the table. Sharad Kelkar, as Omar, is also great but he could have been given more screen time to do justice to his role. Other supporting actors like Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Shishir Sharma, and Rajit Kapur give fine performances.
Along with that, the music and cinematography of the movie are also applaudable as they add a great touch to the storyline. Code Name Tiranga is now playing in theatres near you. So, if you’re looking for a weekend watch, you can give this a shot!
