Britney Spears’ Toxic is an anthem for 90s kids across the globe. And recently, it has made a major comeback at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2025. The show was everything the audience imagined when it came to the grand setting, an exquisite runway, and entertaining musical performances by international celebrities including Karol G, Missy Elliot and Madison Beer. Best collab of 2025: Bollywood x Britney Spears

During one of the runway performances, the show dropped a mashup of Britney Spears’ Toxic and Lata Mangeshkar and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam’s Tere Mere Beech Mein. The song is from the Bollywood movie, Ek Duuje Ke Liye, featuring actors Kamal Haasan and Rati Agnihotri. The collab has created a buzz among the fans, creating one of the most viral moments of the show.

The mashup didn’t just surprise everyone, it officially confirmed Britney’s song’s link with Bollywood. Long before this unexpected collab, an Instagram and TikTok based music show, Song Psych decoded Toxic‘s desi roots. It revealed how the world has Bollywood to thank for Britney’s biggest hit. The track’s unmistakable string hook was actually made using sections of a Hindi song, Tere Mere Beech Mein.

Though Song Psych’s revelation went viral just recently, Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ origin story was covered by Insider first. Carnatic vocalist Manasi Prasad explained how “Tere Mere Beech Mein” is based on an Indian classical raga that is often used to convey feelings of intense emotions.

We don’t know about you but we were definitely blown away by this unexpected collab of Britney Spears and Bollywood. Perhaps we can cut Bollywood some slack for all those remakes and “borrowed” tunes now, huh?
