The Mishra parivaar is back with their heartwarming household drama and the ever-relatable sibling rivalry between the brothers, Annu and Aman. The TVF web series Gullak is returning with Season 5, set to release on Sony LIV on June 5, 2026. The latest season portrays the Mishra family’s struggle to accept their changing realities. But before you watch Gullak Season 5, here’s a quick recap of the web series from Season 1 to 4.
Gullak Season 1 recap

The first season introduces us to the Mishra family through the series’ narrator, a gullak, an earthen money bank. Santosh Mishra, the head of the family, juggles finances and frustrations, while his wife, Shanti Mishra, holds the household together with her warmth and jugaad. The real spark, though, lies in the dynamic between Annu and Aman. Annu, being the elder son, navigates college and his parents’ expectations. Aman is still figuring out his school life and often feels overshadowed and misunderstood.
The 5-episode season sees the family’s financial struggle to buy a new scooter and renovate their home. It also witnesses Aman dealing with school pressure and self-doubt. Gullak Season 1 ends on a hopeful note as both Santosh and Shanti motivate Annu for another attempt at the SSC exam. Santosh also seeks Shanti’s forgiveness for fighting with her and insulting her in front of their children.
Gullak Season 2 recap

Gullak Season 2 picks up with the Mishras dealing with slightly bigger, more pressing realities. Annu is still stuck figuring out his career after not clearing his exams. Aman is now in the middle of board exam pressure. One of the most memorable threads comes through the Raanu ki shaadi snippet, where a missing “saha-parivaar” (co-family) phrase on the wedding invite bruises Santosh’s ego. This turns a happy family event into a grave matter of self-respect.
Alongside, everyday crises continue to pile up. An inflated electricity bill pushes Santosh to consider taking commissions from people. Shanti gets diagnosed with diabetes and still runs the house like nothing changed. Aman’s cricket obsession clashes with his Class 10 exams. Meanwhile, Annu tries to carve out some stability, even exploring referrals to secure a decent job. The season gently builds towards a more emotional note, where beneath all the small fights and taunts, the family’s vulnerabilities become more apparent. This time, they don’t end with a resolution, but with a deeper sense that everyone is trying, in their own flawed way, to keep things going.
Gullak Season 3 recap

This season shows a slightly more mature phase for the Mishra family. The children are growing up, and so are their problems. Annu is now working at a pharmaceutical company and receives his first salary. While he dreams of buying himself a new pair of shoes, he is compelled to put the desire aside to pay for Aman’s high school admission. But Aman struggles with a different situation: he wants to pursue Humanities, a stream his parents wouldn’t approve of. As Aman struggles with Science and fails miserably, he seeks Annu’s help to convince their parents. On the other hand, Santosh loses his job due to office politics. This shakes the family’s financial stability and his dignity. When Annu confronts his father’s boss, he learns that the boss himself framed Santosh, resulting in Santosh’s suspension.
Gullak Season 4 recap

Gullak Season 4 opens with the Mishra family dealing with a mix of everyday chaos and a much bigger underlying concern: the condition of their house. Santosh stresses about the house being marked for irregular construction, and the fear of losing their longtime home looms over the family. At the same time, Aman navigates puberty, romantic curiosity, and a growing sense of independence. Annu, however, settles into work but struggles with the household’s emotional and practical needs. A major shift occurs when Aman’s curiosity and secretive behaviour start to cross the line, leading to misunderstandings between him and his parents.
The tension peaks when Aman’s parents discover his secret letters and his meetings with a girl, leading to a major confrontation with Santosh. Hurt, cornered, and misunderstood, Aman eventually leaves home, unable to cope with the emotional pressure. His absence shakes the entire Mishra family, especially Shanti, who holds the emotional weight of the situation, and Annu, who becomes the bridge trying to make sense of both sides. By the end of Gullak Season 4, the family begins to reflect on their reactions. Santosh and Shanti recognise that fear and control had clouded their understanding of Aman. The season closes with reconciliation and emotional release, with Aman returning and the Mishras reuniting, even with unresolved issues in the background.
About Gullak Season 5
The latest season follows the Mishra family’s middle-class life struggles. While the house gets a fresh coat of paint and a new Wi-Fi connection, the family grapples with changing interpersonal dynamics. Annu builds his career, Aman returns more reserved, and Shanti gains unexpected internet fame. Gullak Season 5 will see the return of the OG cast, including Jameel Khan as Santosh Mishra, Harsh Mayar as Aman, Geetanjali Kulkarni as Shanti, and Sunita Rajwar as the Mishra family’s neighbour, except Vaibhav Raj Gupta, whose Annu will be played by actor Anant Joshi.
