Barking dogs will bark, meowing cats will meow, and zehreele in-laws will spread zeher. Duniya ka usool hai, bachche. There are some things in life that never change, no matter how hard you try. So, you have to find your peace in all that noise. Some people, like the saas and sasur in this horrific story, are beyond redemption. In this case, we cannot hope to change them. We can only hope to escape them.

When your mother-in-law complains of jodon ka dard…

“Doctors dekh lenge yeh sab but bachche ko kaise paaloge ab? Aap hi toh kehte ho ki bachcha paida karlo, hum paal lenge. Kaise karoge ab? Jawaab chahiye mujhe abhi.”

When your father-in-law’s diabetes goes off the charts…

“Yeh aaj kal ke papa log, sab samose pakore khaate hain. Future ka nahi dekhte. All lifestyle problems, khud hi karaa hai sab kuchh. Bhugto ab.”

When your nanad/devar is sick…

“Phir se bimaar ho gaye? Main toh phas hi gayi yeh shaadi karke”

This bachcha didn’t mention a nanad/devar but there’s always one, isn’t there? Lurking around the scene, near enough to hear everything and phusphusao later, yet far enough to not get pulled into the drama.

This will be such a sore spot for your evil in-laws, bachche. You’ll really enjoy the Brahmastra-level meltdown. Evil deserves evil in return. I have less than zero sympathy for in-laws who treat their bahus like wombs instead of women. Enough of trying to become Tulsi, it’s time to bring out your Komolika.

Embarrassment is not enough!

Aww, pati embarrass ho gaya with his parents’ behaviour. So, what did he do about it apart from telling them to leave? Did he tell them that they cannot treat his wife like this? Did he give them an ultimatum—like they love giving you—that they better fall in line if they want to have any relationship with their son?

Husbands need to take action against such families if they want a happy family of their own. A man’s wife is his family too.
