Valentine’s Day is so overdone that it’s become a cliche to celebrate it. In all the films and TV shows we watch, we’ve seen virtually everything traditional being done on this day. From romantic getaways and spa days to kinks like roleplaying, we’ve seen it all. But since the day is there to celebrate, you might as well do something innovative. Here are a few options for things to do on Valentine’s Day which will make your love blossom like never before.
1. Live your Bollywood fantasy

Short of getting married and having a sangeet, you can’t live the Bollywood life in any way. So why not use this Valentine’s Day to dance with your significant other to a Bollywood song? Live your fantasies. TikTok will help.
2. Celebrate your inner child
A great hobby as a child was ringing your neighbourhood aunty’s doorbell and running away. You did it with friends, now do it with your SO! This will also tell you if they are ready for parenthood.
3. Dine and dash
Celebrate your love for food by enjoying it so much that you “forget” to pay. Be cheap together. It’s so awww!
4. Get a free massage
Instead of going to an expensive spa, just walk all over each other’s backs. Remember to resolve any disagreements before this. You don’t want any spines to “accidentally” snap.
5. Make a simple home-cooked meal
Don’t bother with a fancy romantic meal. Make some anda bhurji with Maggi, and have a candle-lit dinner.
6. Have a poor man’s wine and cheese night
Buy a pack of grape juice and get the Britannia cheese slices. Stuff your faces until you need a bottle of Gelusil.
7. Try a new kind of roleplay
Pretend to be panelists on Arnab Goswami’s show who kiss and make up after a shouting match. If you get really good at it, the neighbours might join in. Win-win!
8. Do something adventurous
Watch a film on Netflix that isn’t on your watchlist. Or go on a drive through Gurgaon during rush hour.
9. Put a twist on dinner
Have breakfast food like scrambled eggs and toast for dinner. Call it brinner.
10. Movie marathon
Normies would have a romantic movie marathon. You should have a horror movie marathon. Crazy!
11. Arrange a treasure hunt
This won’t be an ordinary treasure hunt with a gift at the end. It’ll end with your SO having to do the laundry for once.
12. Send each other romantic messages
Text each other stuff on WhatsApp even if you’re sitting in the same room. Be a true millennial.
