When my son was born, I was ecstatic. There was a new addition to our family, which brought us a lot of joy.

But after I got back to work, post my maternity leave, I started feeling exhausted. I was losing a lot of weight and had a persistent cough. Initially, I chalked it up to post-pregnancy changes, but the doctors diagnosed it as tuberculosis.

Despite getting treatment for it, the cough continued. So, on my husband’s insistence, we got some tests done. After a few X-rays, PET scans and a biopsy, I was diagnosed with stage 2 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the lymph nodes and lymphatic system.

The news broke me. After all, no one is ever ready to hear that they have cancer. We had just started our family. My son, Aayan, was only nine months old, and everything looked uncertain.

We had to start chemotherapy immediately as the cancer was spreading rapidly. After the initial cycles, doctors found that the treatment was not working, and we had to change the chemo dosage.

I couldn’t have gotten through the entire process without my husband. He held down the fort while I was in and out of the hospital and during my recovery, taking care of himself and our son.

Cancer, though scary, is not a disease that is stronger than we are. And that’s the message I want to give to every person who is dealing with the disease.

The latest mystery-thriller to hit your screens is Gaslight, starring Sara Ali Khan, Chitrangada Singh, and Vikrant Massey. While the movie lives up to its name, its effectiveness is questionable. It tries to gaslight the audience into thinking it’s a great thriller when, in reality, it is just a bunch of scenes stitched together to attain peak boredom. Gaslight, though a regular cliched movie, had some potential. With a great cast, the movie should have been great. Unfortunately, it is let down by poor writing, which leads to ineffective performances. Here’s what we thought of Gaslight.
