The story excites you, breaks you, and then heals you

It’s not every day that you walk into the cinema with such excitement and hope for a Bollywood movie. After 18 long years, Anurag Basu has given us Metro… In Dino, which brings to the screen the heartfelt stories of four couples. Each of them goes through their share of love, loss, and finding second chances.

Parimal (Anupam Kher) and Shibani (Neena Gupta) meet at a college reunion after years of sharing a love, forgotten in time, and having parted ways. Their story is endearing and wholesome, reminding you of the comfort that some relationships bring.

Monty (Pankaj Tripathi) and Kajol (Konkona Sen Sharma) are a middle-aged couple who’ve stopped seeking love from each other. Instead, they are sharing their lives with people they’ve found on dating apps and looking for a fresh spark. Their tale reminds us of how forgiveness, second chances, and falling in love with each other over and over again are what keep a marriage alive.

Shruti (Fatima Sana Shaikh) and Akash (Ali Fazal) are a young couple struggling to find the right career for themselves. Eventually, they both move to different cities to pursue their passions, but start forgetting about each other somewhere down the line. When the differences and fights start to rise, the two decide to separate ways until they find themselves back on the same road, unable to give up on their marriage.

Chumki (Sara Ali Khan) and Parth (Aditya Roy Kapur) have the most unbelievable drunken meet-cute, which almost lands Chumki in trouble with her fiancé. The two quickly make up stories to cover up the misunderstanding, but keep bumping into each other. This is till Chumki realises she’ll be stuck forever if she marries her fiancé and runs to break off not just her engagement but Parth’s too. Eventually, they both realise they’re in love and decide to give their insane story a shot.

The music is the soul of Metro… In Dino

You can’t not expect magic when Pritam and Papon come together. But when you witness this level of magic, it only makes you lose yourself in it and find some lost parts of you that you had forgotten along the way. Remember that one heartbreak that shattered you? That one epic love story that was left unfinished? That one relationship that you gave multiple chances to? All the nights you spent manifesting, crying, and moving on? It will all come back to you, and you’ll only embrace it like a warm hug. That’s what the music of Metro… In Dino does to you; go feel it in the theatres.

The cast is refreshing and a delight to watch

Watching Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta be so effortless on screen is endearing and a treat to watch. The way they complement each other throughout reminds you why they are the OG Bollywood stars. One of the most surprising pairings, Konkona Sen Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi give us the best chemistry and humour and an urban tale that connects instantly. Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh bring a subtle but powerful story that makes you feel their pain. But it also makes you feel guilty for almost giving up on your partner when situations get tough. Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan are a young couple who keep bumping into each other in the most bizarre manner. But they also make you realise the importance of leaving certain situations and people behind to get what you deserve.

Can you watch it with family? Metro… In Dino is a heartfelt movie that doesn’t have any obscene scenes. This could also be a great watch for your mom and dad, as they might relate to it.
