2023 gave us almost 18 long weekends, but if you spent them all at home, that’s just sad. But don’t worry, because the ‘new year new me’ vibe is still fresh in our heads and 2024 is upping the vacation game. This year, we have more than 10 long weekends and almost zero excuses not to take road trips with buddies. So, plan well and enjoy some time away from your work desk. Here are all the long weekends in 2024 and where you can spend them.

1. Gokarna: January 13-15

Lohri is falling on a Saturday this year, so with a Sunday in between and Makar Sankranti on Monday, you can easily get January 13-15 off. And if you want a longer weekend, you can take a day off on Friday and enjoy an extra long weekend. Gokarna is a great place to escape dilli ki sardi, chill around the beaches, and visit some stunning waterfalls.

2. Darjeeling: January 26-28

Another long weekend in 2024, January 26 is a Friday which makes 26-29 the perfect time for a mini vacation. So, pack your bags and spend the long weekend in Darjeeling sightseeing, visiting hill gardens, hiking, and enjoying the last of the winter season.

3. Srinagar: March 8-10

Mahashivratri falls on March 8 which is a Friday, so you get a nice long weekend. Srinagar is a lovely place to visit in March and enjoy the pleasant weather. You can indulge in authentic food, stay in houseboats, participate in adventure activities, and enjoy the scenic beauty of Kashmir.

4. Kaziranga National Park: March 23-25

Holi is on March 25, a Monday, and if that doesn’t make your corporate heart dance with joy, I don’t know what will. Anyway, you get to enjoy a long weekend from March 23-25. Kaziranga National Park is a great spot to plan a short trip with your friends and family during this time and spot some rhinos, elephants, and even tigers.

5. Ziro Valley: March 29-31

Another long weekend in 2024 is from March 29-31. Good Friday is on the 29th, so you get the whole weekend off. Ziro Valley is a hidden gem in Arunachal Pradesh. It is a beautiful vacation spot for March as you can enjoy some quiet time in the lap of nature, trekking and sightseeing.

6. Mahabaleshwar: May 23-26

May 23 is Buddha Purnima which is falling on Thursday. So, if you take Friday off, you get yourself a long break from May 23-26. And if you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, Mahabaleshwar will make an ideal spot to spend the long weekend. You can visit Mapro’s Garden, Elephant‘s Head Point, Sydney Point, Mahabaleshwar temple, Parsi Point, Mapro Garden, and the Strawberry farms here.

7. Sikkim: June 15-17

Bakr-Eid is on a Monday this year which means you get an extended weekend and another miserable Monday off. This gives you June 15-17 off and a chance to escape Delhi in the summer. Sikkim’s colourful scenery, snow-capped mountains, and beautiful lakes make it the perfect place to spend a long weekend.

8. Kumarakom: August 15-19

This is one of the longest weekends in 2024. August 15 is a Thursday, so if you take Friday off, you get a long break till Rakhi on August 19, another Monday. So, if you don’t plan to waste it sitting at home, a little sightseeing, luxurious houseboat stays, and bird watching in Kumarakom could be perfect.

9. Wayanad: August 24-26

Another long weekend in 2024 in August is around Janmashtami which is falling on August 26, another Monday (yay). Being a corporate girlie, something within me is healing looking at all these long weekends. So, spend 24-26 in Wayanad, a beautiful getaway in Kerala. You can enjoy some wildlife, explore caves and waterfalls, indulge in activities like trekking, boating, ziplining, visiting spice plantations, and much more.

10. Daman and Diu: September 5-8

September 5 is Onam which is a Thursday and you might get a day off. And if you take Friday off, you get four days to rejuvenate your mental health and step out of your home. So, if you’re one of the lucky few who does get this long weekend, you can spend it in Daman and Diu visiting temples, forts, and churches, and indulging in some water sports at the beaches.

11. Kutch: October 11-13

With Dussehra coming on October 12, i.e. a Saturday, you can take Friday off and enjoy a long weekend. And just after the monsoon season is over, Kutch is a beautiful place to visit. So, head to the desert and enjoy camping, camel riding, wildlife tours, and the rich culture of the place.

12. Manali: October 31-November 3

Diwali falls on November 1 which is a Friday, followed by Govardhan Pooja on the 2nd. So, if you take Thursday off, you get October 31-November 3 as a long break. And if you aren’t planning to stay home during Diwali, get your friends and plan a trip to the hills. Manali is perfect around this time of the year and you can enjoy some adventure sports here.

13. Varanasi: November 14-17

November 15 is Guru Nanak Jayanti which falls on a Friday. So, if you take the Thursday off, you have the last long weekend of 2024. And Varanasi is a stunning place to visit in November. You can go all spiritual and visit the ghats and immerse yourself in the culture of Varanasi.
