Forbidden love between cross-border spies
Lahore Confidential is essentially a story of a RAW desk employee, Ananya Srivastav (Richa Chadha), who is sent on a mission to Pakistan. Ananya is tasked with the duty to get information from a popular event planner in Lahore, Rauf Ahmed Kazmi (Arunoday Singh), who happens to have deep connections with Pakistan’s spy agencies. However, in pursuit of befriending Kazmi, Ananya ends up falling in love with him. Whether their relationship proves to be an obstacle in her mission or not is something you need to watch the film to find out.

Richa Chadha, Arunoday Singh, and Karishma Tanna are seasoned actors. While Tanna has been a prominent TV face, Chadha and Singh have numerous accolades to their names for brilliant onscreen performances. However, while Arunoday Singh is relatively decent as Rauf Ahmed Kazmi, Richa Chadha ends up being a big let-down. Her character of an aspiring author working with RAW and being labelled as ‘over-emotional’ is confusing to say the least. She’s got the same expressions throughout the film. For emotional scenes, however, she goes over-the-top and it almost feels like a mockery. The lovemaking scenes are purely fillers with no relevance to the actual story. And the dialogues? Don’t even get me started. The conversations between Rauf and Ananya are borderline annoying with the constant back-and-forth of shayari. Karishma Tanna as agent Yukti is decent and watchable.
Lahore Confidential — Is it worth it?
Should you watch Lahore Confidential? I would say it’s easily skippable and you wouldn’t miss a thing. However, it’s only an hour-long so if you’ve got spare time with nothing to watch, you could maybe give it shot. Don’t say we didn’t warn you though.
