Is halki halki thand in the air and streets decked up with lights also your favourite time of the year? It’s officially Diwali season and we all know what that means – back-to-back card parties, endless feasting, and enough cocktails to make you believe you can walk in a straight line. Sounds fun, right? Until you wake up with a heavy head, wondering who’s playing the dhol in your brain. Your stomach feels like it has never heard of digestion before and your body has already given up on you. But your heart? Ready for another banger party! A hangover is difficult but you can bounce back fast if you follow these simple hacks.

1. Hydrate like your life depends on it

Source

After a night of fried food and cocktails, your body is screaming for mercy and lots of water. So, hydrate as much you can. But if a plain glass of water makes your stomach flip, drink coconut water, flavoured electrolytes, lemonade, or a detox drink in a fancy whisky glass (minus the whisky, please). This will help prevent fluid loss in your body, keeping you energised through the day. You must not drink too much coffee or tea, as it can worsen the dehydration caused by alcohol.

2. Ginger shot to the rescue

Source

If you really want to cure your hangover, drink a shot. Not the kind you had the previous night! It’s time for a ginger shot. Just add some grated ginger to half a cup of water and boil it. Once it cools down to room temperature, drink it in one go. It eases nausea and gives you a quick energy boost.

3. Breakfast is a must, not an option

Source

Before you think of eating another deep-fried snack, grab an apple. Apart from juicy, vitamin-rich fruits, you can also eat light carbs, including sweet potatoes, oatmeal, and bread. You can pair these foods with lean proteins and healthy fats.

4. Take a shower to reset

If you’re feeling too tired, take a shower to feel fresh and release muscle tension. It can also increase your adrenaline, open nasal passages, and boost blood circulation to make you feel more relaxed.

5. Rest and recharge

Are you revisiting your memories from last night or scrolling through brain rot reels? Put down your phone, dim the lights, and take a long nap to recharge yourself for the next meet-up. And if you wake up between naps, don’t forget to hydrate.

6. Stretch it out

Still wondering about those random bruises even though you don’t remember falling? Well, that probably happened when you were on your eighth Patiala peg, flexing your dance moves as soon as Gallan Goodiyaan started playing. Now, slowly stretch your body to ease the pain. You can either walk for a while or try some easy workouts in your bed

7. Rant and regret

There’s no better cure for a hangover than bonding over the shared regret of that extra shot. So, call up your besties and invite them over for just half a cup of adrak chai. Do a live telecast of all the videos from the party and cringe at the funny, embarrassing moments together. And when you’re done laughing, plan another house party to get the most out of the Diwali vibes.
