Looks like Siddharth Anand woke up one day and chose to create a true and entertaining masterpiece. After movies like Pathaan, War, and Bang Bang, the director’s latest venture Fighter hits you right in the feels once again. It is a one-of-a-kind story based on the Indian Air Force which is thoroughly impressive. Right from its direction and background music to its storyline, it is engaging and keeps you hooked to the screen.

The Air Dragons are here to slay

Fighter is based on the 2019 Pulwama attack and Balakot airstrike and how the brave soldiers of the Indian Air Force struck back. Rakesh Jai, aka Rocky (Anil Kapoor) is the leader of the Air Dragons, a special unit hand-picked for the mission. His unit includes Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania aka Patty (Hrithik Roshan), the best pilot in the team who loves doing fancy stunts. Along with him, there’s Squadron Leader Minal Rathore aka Minni (Deepika Padukone) who left her home and family behind to pursue a career in the forces.

The rest of the unit comprises Squadron leader Sartaj Gill aka Taj (Karan Singh Grover), Basheer Khan aka Bash (Akshay Oberoi), Unni (Mahesh Shetty), and Sukkhi (Banveen Singh).

Fighter brings ace action, emotions, and acting

Siddharth Anand is not new to creating action and a heavy dose of drama onscreen. But he has outdone himself with Fighter. Right from the start of the movie, Siddharth captivates you with his great direction and a cast that is new and refreshing but fits in the narrative seamlessly. It explores their personal lives and losses and shows the soldiers’ undying patriotism and focus once they are back on base. It’s not over the top but just enough to make you feel proud.

The casting of Fighter is the cherry on top

Fighter is a muti-starrer movie but everyone gets their fair share of screen time and is delightful to watch. Anil Kapoor, as Rocky, is brilliant with his leadership skills and commanding tone. Hrithik Roshan, as Patty, owns his role and delivers an amazing performance. Deepika, as Minni, is a hard relate and immediately makes you fall in love with her soft yet immensely strong character. Karan Singh Grover, as Taj, is the life of the party and brings a playful aspect to the storyline. Along with him, Sanjeeda Shaikh, as Sanchi, Taj’s wife, is a great addition to the story. Akshay Oberoi, as Bash, is equally impressive and a treat to watch on the screen along with Mahesh Shetty as Unni. Now, we come to the villain who stole the show. Rishabh Sawhney, as Azhar Akhtar, is menacing and captivating on screen.

Fighter is not just another patriotic movie that is over the top with its action and dialogue. It is an impressive watch with a crisp storyline, powerful acting, and some amazing action sequences. It is the kind of movie that makes your chest swell with pride and makes your heart go out to the brave soldiers who protect us. And the music of the movie makes sure to bring out all those emotions. And of course, who wouldn’t want to see Hrithik Roshan being an absolute Greek god on a big screen?
