Yes, this is yet another series claiming to give us some sort of insight into how Bollywood works. The Indian remake of the French series that became a global hit, Call My Agent Bollywood is highly relatable for millennials struggling to make a mark in the dizzyingly fast pace of startups.
Directed by Shaad Ali, the series stars Aahana Kumra, Rajat Kapoor, Soni Razdan, and Ayush Mehra as the main agents of ART, a Bollywood talent management agency. The young bosses are constantly screaming at their frightened assistants, the office is fun and trippy, and they all believe in killing it at work, even if that means slowly killing themselves for it. As Aahana Kumra’s character, Amal, tells her controversial new assistant, “You snooze, you lose… No personal life, no social commitments”.
You’ve experienced at least one of these or heard about it in a new-age startup, right?

The series starts with Dia Mirza and her agent, Mehershaad, who is trying to avoid her after losing a big Hollywood project. In the first episode, we are introduced to the various agents and their assistants working at ART and the intense battle between agents trying to earn bigger commissions than the others.
After the owner of the agency dies suddenly, the other agents struggle to manage his clients and keep the company afloat.

The series is fun to watch and features various actors like Lara Dutta, Ila Arun, Jackie Shroff, Sarika Haasan, Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Nandita Das, Lillette Dubey, and more. Each episode features mini storylines with different Bollywood actors who play themselves and not fictional characters which adds a unique element to the series. While the agents are the main characters, the guest appearances help in maintaining a great pace.
Watch this if you’re looking for a unique type of entertainment this weekend. Call My Agent Bollywood is streaming now on Netflix and has six episodes.
