It’s Rakhi, which means it’s time to celebrate the unique bond siblings share. Rakhi is another day where sisters pray for the safety of their brothers, and brothers, in turn, swear to protect their sisters. That is all well and good, but it’s 2024, people. It’s time for siblings to mutually protect each other and help each other succeed in life and show real sibling love. Here are a few siblings from Bollywood who do just that and whom we absolutely love.

1. Vivek, Prem, Vinod and Sangeeta Chaturvedi
Say what you may about Hum Saath Saath Hain, you can’t deny the fact that these four gave us major sibling goals. They stood by each other through thick and thin. Vivek, Prem, Vinod and Sangeeta are each others’ biggest cheerleaders and always encourage each other to chase their happiness. In fact, Prem and Vinod stood with Vivek against their own mother, when she talked of dividing the assets. Now, if that’s not sibling goals, what is?
2. Ayesha and Kabir Mehra
Ayesha and Kabir from Dil Dhadakne Do are one of the most real sibling duos we have seen in Bollywood. They were the definition of sibling revelry instead of sibling rivalry. When they say siblings have your back, they were referring to siblings like Ayesha and Kabir. Unspoken words or heart-to-hearts, they could do both. Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra perfectly portrayed siblings who encouraged each other to follow their dreams and supported each other throughout the movie.
3. Aditi and Amit Mahant
Aditi and Amit Mahant from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na were the typical Tom and Jerry siblings. They bickered and fought and pulled each other’s hair. But, at the end of the day, they knew each other better than they knew themselves. Their heart-to-heart conversation about how they grew distant and, subsequently, how they came closer is a beautiful part of the movie.
4. Anamika and Nikhil Kapoor
My Brother…Nikhil is an underappreciated but beautiful movie. Based on a true story, the movie centred around Nikhil Kapoor, an HIV-positive patient. When his family and society shunned him, Nikhil’s sister Anamika stood by him. Anamika helped him get back on his feet and move on with his life. Now, that’s called unconditional love.
5. Dalbir Kaur and Sarabjit Singh Attwal
Another true story, Sarabjit is a touching tale of sibling love. When Sarabjit, played by Randeep Hooda, is wrongly imprisoned as an Indian spy in Pakistan, his sister Dalbir, played by Aishwarya Rai, moves heaven and earth trying to free him. For 22 years, Dalbir fought the battle to free her brother and prove his innocence. Now, wouldn’t you like to have a sibling who would fight against the world for you?
6. Iqbal and Khadija
As the saying goes, “Behind every successful man, there is a woman.” This holds true for Iqbal. In the movie Iqbal, Shreyas Talpade plays the role of a deaf and mute aspiring cricketer, Iqbal. While his father discourages his dream, Iqbal’s sister Khadija helps him fight for his dream. Knowing her brother’s disabilities, Khadija is his constant protector and confidant.
7. Isri Kaur and Milkha Singh
This sibling duo from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is the perfect example of “mere ko kuch bhi bolo, lekin mere bhai ko haath mat lagana.” While the film’s focus was on Singh’s career, one can’t miss the chemistry between Milkha and Isri. Isri Kaur was one of her brother’s biggest supporters. She was in an abusive relationship with her husband who frequently hit her. She never once raised her voice against him. But, the moment her husband raises his hand against her brother Milkha, she becomes a fierce mama bear. Milkha is Isri’s pride and joy and she never fails to show it.
8. Rahul Raichand and Laddu
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham has one of the most adorable sibling pairs, “Keh diya na…bas keh diya!” Brothers who were forced to stay apart finally meet when Laddu aka Rohan Raichand vows to unite his elder brother with their parents. The fun banter between Rahul and Rohan always leaves us in a fit of laughter. The duo prove how a sibling will always be by your side even if your world falls apart. The duo peaks relatability when Rahul reminds Rohan how “maa mujhe tumse zyada pyaar karti hai”. Isn’t that the story of each one of us?
9. Ram and Laxman
We are not talking about the Ramayana but the movie Main Hoon Na. Major Ram Prasad Sharma and Lucky aka Laxman Prasad might just be half-brothers, but has always behaved like the elder brother. Ram, being the elder sibling that he is, makes it his responsibility to be there for Laxman even though the latter is so bitter about his existence. He doesn’t mind risking his life to save Lucky, unite with his stepmom and heal the wounds of the past to finally find a home in both of them. Lucky’s fear of losing Ram’s grip is evident when he says, “Haath mat chhodna Ram, darna mat, mai hoon na” to which the latter mocks by saying, “Aree usi ka toh dar hai idiot!”
