Sabyasachi Mukherjee has been a cult favourite when it comes to celebrity weddings. From Anushka Sharma’s iconic pink lehenga to Deepika’s traditional wedding attire and Priyanka Chopra’s monotone red outfit, he has charmed us with his designs over and over again. But has the tide shifted now?
Tarun Tahiliani’s celebrity brides are all over the ‘gram. The blending of different techniques while keeping a hint of traditional flair is making his designs stand out. TT’s fashion brings quiet luxury in softer, muted tones and modern silhouettes for today’s brides. This only makes us wonder, have we entered the era of the Tahiliani bride?
When Anushka Sharma wore this gorgeous pastel pink lehenga by Sabyasachi for her wedding, she started a trend that’s still going strong. Soon after, we saw the markets flooded with direct copies and designs “inspired” by this stunning Sabyasachi lehenga. Anushka also wore a classic gold saree for her reception from the designer’s collection, giving us major goals.
Ranveer and Deepika also chose to wear Sabyasachi for almost all of their functions. Deepika’s custom wedding lehenga with an engraved dupatta started yet another bridal trend. And we still see so many brides going for that signature Sabyasachi red bridal lehenga.
But now, there is a noticeable shift in celebrity bridal looks. From ditching the reds to going for a more minimal and modern vibe, brides are looking for something that reflects their personality a lot more. And this is why Tarun Tahiliani is becoming a favourite among brides.
Is Tarun Tahiliani the new Sabyasachi?
The younger Ambani bahu, Radhika Merchant, has been taking Instagram by storm with her pre-wedding festivities. The bride-to-be wore a stunning custom-made Tarun Tahiliani pre-draped lehenga saree for the final day of her three-day bash. Her outfit in shades of silver and rose gold with a hand-painted dupatta seamlessly merged tradition and modernity.
Another recent Tarun Tahiliani celebrity bride is the gorgeous Rakulpreet Singh. She wore a peachy salmon lehenga for her daytime pheras with Jackky Bhagnani. The embellished flowers and the floral lehenga brought back the pastel wedding trend that Anushka started years ago. Rakul’s outfit for her Anand Karaj ceremony was a Tarun Tahiliani classic chikankari lehenga with puff sleeves.
So, even though we love a classic Sabyasachi Bollywood bride, Tarun Tahiliani’s fresh take on celebrity brides is equally enamouring. The amalgamation of traditional techniques with modern-day styling is what TT plays with, making his designs hot bridal trends for good reason.
