Set in the 10th century Thanjavur, Ponniyin Selvan-I chronicles the life of Arulmozhi Varman of the Chola dynasty. The movie is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel, Ponniyin Selvan, and is directed by Mani Ratnam. The movie has an ensemble cast consisting of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and others.
