There is something magical about attending winter weddings. On the upside, you are often enveloped by fog especially at night and you never have to worry about sweating out your make-up (which means there is need for very little touch-up. Romance just seems to hang in the air. However, the downside of it all is that you may end up shivering the entire time because it’s so cold!
Thankfully, that’s where a shawl comes to the rescue. And we aren’t talking about that boring old shawl slung across shabbily across your perfect ensemble. Think a beautifully draped pashmina or embroidered shawl that makes you look drop dead gorgeous without having you drop dead from the freezing temperatures.
Wrap It Around Your Shoulders
This is an easy fix. Just wrap the shawl from the back and hug yourself warm. This works perfectly with salwar suits. It might look a bit bulky with a saree, however.
Cape It Up
This works wonderfully if you have a shawl that features a lot of lace or is crochet. Pull the shawl from the back and high over your neck and hang it around you like a cape. It’s that simple.
Knot In Front
This is a particularly fun way to wear a shawl and it will keep you snug and warm. Pull both ends of the shawl in front of you and bring them together with a simple knot. The best part? You won’t have to worry about the material slipping off of you all the time.
The Body Wrap
This is a casual yet elegant way of keeping warm. Just wrap the longer half of the scarf or the shawl around your shoulder. Make you it is leave it a little loose but don’t forget to pin it up. And voila! You’re set.
Neck Wrap
Palazzo pants seem to all the rage at weddings this season. You have to drape the shawl around your neck and cross it. After that, bring both ends of the scarf to the front and adjust the length according to your preference.
Keep It Basic
Nothing is stopping you from ditching the flimsy duppata that came along with your kurta set for a nice and thick shawl. Go for it. The best thing about keeping things simple is that it takes no time to style. Wrap it around yourself and you’re good to go.
The ‘Faux’ Choker
Have a particularly beautiful shawl that boasts intricate embroidery? Then ditch that uncomfortable necklace and wrap the shawl around your neck instead. You’ll be warm and look amazing at the same time. Also, you won’t have to worry about your jewellery getting misplaced!
