An honest look at real relationships, The Reason Is You delves into emotional and mental health and how important they are in a relationship. With the main character struggling with mental health issues, this book brings depression into the spotlight, igniting a much-needed conversation. The book, released on February 14, “explores emotional health, the boundaries of traditional relationships, and second chances.”

According to HarperCollins, the publisher of The Reason Is You, “This is not the love of fairytales, but a deeply honest story about real people living in the real world and exploring the boundaries of contemporary relationships as they learn to live and love through mental and emotional turmoil.”

“This is a novel told from the perspective of its male protagonist,” author Nikita Singh says. “It is about being in love with someone who is struggling with depression, and how that affects the person taking on the role of a caretaker in a relationship. The story further explores how mental health issues still have this societal stigma attached, and how their symptoms tend to get overlooked or even dismissed.”

Nikita Singh’s books have focussed on different aspects of millennial relationships and the reality behind public facades. She has written 11 books, including Letters To My Ex and Every Time It Rains. Nikita started writing at a young age, and her first book was published when she was only 19.
