Social Currency, streaming on Netflix, is a reality web series that brings eight social media influencers under one roof for 21 days. But the million-dollar question is, can these influencers survive in the real world without their blue ticks? Social Currency takes away their fan following and puts these people in a space where they have to do some real influencing through challenges. The cast includes Vagmita Singh, Sakshi Chopra, Ruhii Siingh, Mridul Madhok, Parth Samthaan, Bhavin Bhanushali, Aakash Mehta, and Rowhi Rai. So here’s our review of Social Currency that dives deeper into the lives of the influencers, showing us who they really are behind the cameras.
From reels to real-life influencing
Social Currency follows the journey of eight prominent influencers who have huge social media followings. The cast includes content creators, comedians, actors, artists, and many more to give us a mixed bunch. But how does the show level the playing field for the popular hotshots and the lesser-known influencers? It takes away their social media, followers, and phones, and gets them to start from scratch. But this time, they’ll have to do some real-life influencing. It includes various tasks and challenges that will earn them their social currency to stay, eat, live, and thrive. Now that’s what we’re talking about!
These prominent influencers have to win real hearts because the virtual double tap isn’t gonna get them ahead in the game. So a little beg, borrow, steal instead of like, share, and subscribe is what it’s gonna take to find out who is the biggest influencer of them all.
Comedians, content creators, kalesh, and more
From content creators to comedians and actors, Social Currency brings a mixed bunch of influencers to a very Instagrammable villa. On one hand, we have the very charming but socially awkward Parth Samthaan, and on the other, we have the absolute diva (side-eye) Rowhi Rai. While Mridul and Aakash take their time blending in, Bhavin shines from day one, and Sakshi, Ruhi, and Vagmita are entertaining to watch. When there are no filters to what comes out of one’s mouth, one’s real personality shines through. So, you’re in for a really fun, cringe, entitled, self-obsessed, and genuinely entertaining crowd.
Can you watch Social Currency with your family?: It’s a little Bigg Boss but a lot more Splitsvilla, so you can skip cause this clearly doesn’t qualify as a family entertainer.
Social Currency is now streaming on Netflix.
