Read our review of Param Sundari to find out.
Param Sundari movie: The plot

The film opens with Param (Sidharth Malhotra), a charming Punjabi munda running for his life in a mundu as some village goons chase him. The lens then shifts to Param’s life in Delhi where he struggles to find the best startup to invest his father’s hard-earned money. After a series of failures, a man named Shekhar devises a brand-new startup called Find My Soulmate, an app that aims to transform the dating scene in India. Param asks his father to help him fund the startup. But this time, his father puts a bizarre condition – Param must first test the app to find a soulmate for himself to get the investment.
Param agrees and sets up his account on the dating app. He gets a match in the most secluded area of Kerala. Crazy as he is to prove himself to his father, Param even goes to that village as a tourist to meet his soulmate, Sundari (Janhvi Kapoor). But will the app really work? What if Param meets Sundari and he doesn’t like her at all, or vice versa? Will Param get his much-needed investment and soulmate?
Param Sundari movie review: A wholesome story

The movie explores the classic North-meets-South trope, which is well-known to us by now, thanks to other Bollywood movies with similar stories. Then what makes Param Sundari different from the rest? The cheeky duo of Param and Sundari is undoubtedly the movie’s highlight. Param’s Delhi swag and Sundari’s southern beauty combine to create witty, wholesome banter that will leave you smiling. From sharing the first glimpses of the lead characters to their first meet-cute, the story is quite engaging. But it’s Param’s jigri yaar Jaggi’s humour that steals the spotlight every time he’s on screen.
The breathtakingly beautiful landscape of Kerala in the movie will make you want to book your flight tickets right away. And not to miss the moment when Sonu Nigam’s Pardesiya finally plays. You have to go to theatres to experience the vibe of the song you’ve been listening to on loop till now. But not everything is good about Param Sundari.
What we didn’t love about Param Sundari

The movie becomes too stereotypical when it comes to portraying Punjabi and South Indian characters. They are reduced to words like assi, tussi, ille and namaskaram. Param Sundari becomes yet another Bollywood movie that takes joy in ridicule. Tamil, Malayalam? All same same. And that’s where some jokes feel so overdone and predictable. Param Sundari also feels stretched at times. The makers could have easily wrapped it up in much lesser time without compromising on the entertainment value. But the movie is still worth watching as it takes you back to the good-old Bollywood romcom phase.
Param Sundari movie: The cast

Sidharth Malhotra in a Bollywood romcom always makes for great viewing. In Param Sundari too, he aced the role of Param, making us blush and laugh at the same time. Starring opposite him, Janhvi Kapoor does justice to the sincere and fiery mix of Sundari in the movie. She beautifully maintains her character’s elegance throughout the film. Apart from the leads, Manjot Singh’s supporting role as Jaggi was a much-needed addition. His comic timing is spot on in Param Sundari. Child actor Inayat Verma, who plays Sundari’s sister in the film, brings the Gen Z sass in the film. Param Sundari also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, and Siddhartha Shankar in supporting roles.
Param Sundari is now running in theatres.
Can you watch Param Sundari with your family?: Yes, there is no obscene language or scenes of intimacy, except a short kiss in the end.
