The filming of the new season is in full swing. And so, we must quickly catch up with the previous seasons to enjoy what the latest one has in store for us. Here’s a quick recap of the first three seasons of Panchayat:

Panchayat Season 1 recap

The series begins with Abhishek Tripathi, a fresh engineering graduate working temporarily as a Panchayat Secretary in Phulera village. He wants to pursue an MBA at one of the IIMs. So, he works in the day and studies diligently in the night. However, his temporary stay extends as he faces several issues with the village’s political system and a lack of basic facilities. Due to this, he fails his CAT exam and decides to give up until someone inspires him to retake it.

Panchayat Season 2 recap

A conflict occurs between Pradhan Ji’s wife, Manju Devi, and Bhushan’s wife, Kranti, over the issue of the damaged road in the village. This creates more problems for everyone living in Phulera. Then, Prahlad Pandey, Deputy Head of the village, is shattered to know about the unfortunate demise of his son, Rahul, who is in the army. The season ends with Chandra Kishore Singh, a corrupt MLA, sending a transfer letter to Abhishek.

A new secretary comes to Phulera to work in place of Abhishek. However, saddened by Abhishek’s transfer, no one turns up for his welcome. Furthermore, Phulera’s Panchayat loses its case against MLA Chandra Kishore Singh and fails to cancel Abhishek’s transfer. They further confront issues related to the damaged road that is yet to be constructed. This intensifies the tiff between Bhushan and the Panchayat members.

The last episode, titled Hamla, involves Phulera’s people deceitfully purchasing the MLA’s horse, Sitara. When he comes to know about it, he plans to attack the villagers. However, the people of Phulera confront the threat with bravery. Ultimately, the MLA steps back, and the village celebrates its win.

The story progresses to Vikas, Pradhan Ji and Prahlad accompanying Abhishek to the bus stand as he leaves for his home. However, two goons attack them, injuring Pradhan Ji on his shoulder. In a surprising turn of events, MLA Chandra claims that Pradhan Ji staged this attack on himself. This way, his wife could earn more votes for the upcoming Panchayat elections. They all head to the police station, and the season ends with this mystery. Who is the real culprit? Will Manju Devi win the elections? Panchayat Season 4 is wrapping up its filming and will be released on July 2, 2025.

Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, the series proves that storytelling doesn’t always have to be grand. It’s the story that matters and moves the viewers to appreciate even a simple, nostalgic setting, as shown in the Panchayat series. The web series features Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Pankaj Jha, Durgesh Kumar, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy and other actors in prominent roles.
