Court is back in session as Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 is out on Netflix. With Season 1, the web series carved its space by using satire to comment on the Indian legal system. Starring Ravi Kishan, Nidhi Bisht, Naila Grrewal, Anant Joshi, and Anjum Batra, in the lead, the latest season promises a bigger, more chaotic version of the same world. But does it also get better? Read our review of Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 to find out.

Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 review: Bigger roles, bizarre cases, same old chaos

The second season returns to the same delightfully chaotic Patparganj District Court, where no case is ever too small or too ridiculous to spiral into a full-blown drama. VD Tyagi is now chasing bigger power, even after stepping into a judge’s role, but his over-the-top personality makes it hard for him to play by the rules.
First, he messes up the oath, then smiles at a lawyer in the corridor which reflects Tyagi’s unintentional bias. As the situation becomes more complex, will his colleagues allow Tyagi to retain his judgeship?

Meanwhile, Ananya Shroff tries to hold on to her idealistic approach to law, only to find herself constantly challenged by the system and newcomers like Naina Arora, who isn’t afraid to call out her polished worldview. Sujata Negi continues her hustle for basic respect (and an AC chamber), while Vishwas Pandey keeps the court functioning with his street-smart fixes. Together, they navigate absurd disputes, personal ambitions, and shifting power dynamics.

The sequel is sharper and more humorous than Season 1, argument sustained!

Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 continues to poke fun at the legal system without being preachy. The satire feels organic, beautifully representing the absurd reality of India’s judicial system. This time, the show touches upon the concept of untouchability, consumerism, and men’s rights. The satire hits its mark most in a scene in which a middle-class man asks his househelp to donate one of her kidneys to his ailing mother. To convince the lawyers for the same, he defends himself, saying that he lets the maid use the washroom in their home, gives her only day-old food, and so on. He presents doing the bare minimum for the househelp with utmost pride, reflecting the age-old conditioning of many like him. In this way, the show’s satire is never too heavy, but enough to make you think between laughs.

The show also leans into double-meaning humour, but keeps it smart, not crass. With razor-sharp punchlines, Maamla Legal Hai 2’s writing makes you smirk first and laugh later when it really sinks in. But humour is not the only emotion that rules the series. Every case in each episode brings something new to the table while maintaining a steady rhythm that makes the show binge-worthy.

Performances that make the show’s case stronger

Besides the strong plot and writing, it was the cast, especially Ravi Kishan, that made Maamla Legal Hai Season 1 a major hit. The actors bring the same energy in the latest season, with Anjum Batra and Nidhi Bisht overpowering the rest. Sharing the same chamber, they will steal your hearts with their funny banter and some love. Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 also features two new additions: Kusha Kapila as Naina Arora and Dinesh Lal Yadav as Banaspati. The way Kusha blends herself into the show’s tone and chaos, you’ll question if she’s really a new cast member. Similarly, Dinesh adds his own quirkiness to the courtroom drama, making it more wholesome.

Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.

Can you watch Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 with your family?: Yes, the series doesn’t contain obscene language or intimacy.
