Fatima Sana Shaikh wowed audiences with her powerhouse performance in Dangal, where she portrayed wrestler Geeta Phogat with remarkable intensity and conviction. But did you know that her Bollywood journey began long before she wrestled her way to stardom? The actor first entered the industry as a child artist, appearing in films such as Chachi 420 alongside Kamal Haasan and One 2 Ka 4 with Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. However, there’s a lesser-known chapter of her early career – Fatima Sana Shaikh and Aamir Khan shared the screen long before the movie Dangal.

Fatima Sana Shaikh and Aamir Khan’s first movie
Recently, Fatima Sana Shaikh made an appearance on comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiyaa’s podcast, where she dropped a delightful Bollywood trivia bomb. Fatima revealed that she had worked with Aamir Khan long before Dangal, as a child artist in the 1997 film Ishq.
She recalled a scene where Aamir Khan dramatically runs toward Kajol, yelling, “Mara, mara, mara.” But what many of us missed was that Kajol was holding a little girl in her arms during that scene, and that child was none other than Fatima herself. The revelation left Bharti and Harssh astonished, as they, like most Bollywood fans, had never noticed this hidden detail in the film.

Despite having early exposure to Bollywood, Fatima’s road to success was far from easy. After her stints as a child actor, she struggled for years, auditioning for multiple roles without much luck. The industry can be ruthless, and Fatima faced her fair share of rejections before she finally landed Dangal.
Once Dangal became a massive success, there was no looking back. Fatima proved her versatility in films like Anurag Basu’s Ludo and the war biopic Sam Bahadur, where she played Indira Gandhi. With every performance, she has continued to impress audiences, proving that she’s here to stay.
Currently, she’s working on Anurag Basu’s Metro…In Dino and Ul Jalool Ishq alongside Vijay Varma.
