Recently, Shivon Zilis took to X to announce the arrival of her fourth child with Musk. This makes Elon Musk the father of 14 children known to the public. But here’s the interesting part. His son has a strong Indian connection. Here’s how.

What connects Elon Musk’s kids to India?

The recent birth announcement of Musk’s son, Sheldon Lycurgus, sparked curiosity around his Indian connection. It turns out Musk’s long-term partner and executive of Neuralink, Shivon Zilis has Indian roots. She was born in Canada to a Caucasian Canadian father and a Punjabi mother. That’s where Musk’s son Sheldon Lycurgus gets his Indian roots from. But wait, that’s not it.

Zilis and Musk had twins, Strider and Azure in 2021, a daughter, Arcadia, in 2024, and now a son in 2025. This means not one but four out of Musk’s 14 kids have Indian roots. Though Zilis prefers to maintain a low profile, her association with Musk keeps her in the headlines and now her Indian descent is giving her more popularity.

Zilis has also talked about her Indian roots publicly. In an old interview in 2015 with People magazine, Zilis talked about her Indian side and said, “I pretty much turned out white. I just got the big eyes from the Punjabi side.”

Honouring his wife and kids’ Indian roots, Musk’s son has Chandrashekhar as his middle name, inspired by the Nobel laureate, S. Chandrashekhar.

Musk has always advocated for a higher population rate. He has often referred to the low birth rate as a “threat” to civilisation. He has also expressed concern about China’s decreasing birth rate. In addition, he has donated 10 million dollars to birth rate research and keeps urging people to have more kids.
