If India had a cousin in Korea, they’d probably bond over spicy food and beating the heat with chilled treats. While we sip on nimbu paani and slurp aam ras, Koreans cool down with a summery delight called Hwachae – a vibrant, juicy fruit punch that’s as pretty as it is refreshing.
Think of it as Korea’s answer to our fruit chaat, only soaked in sweet floral water and ice. It’s fruity, it’s hydrating, and yes, it’s Instagram-worthy. Whether you’re looking to switch up your usual sharbat or impress guests at a summer brunch, this chilled Korean punch is the flavour bomb you didn’t know you needed. Easy Hwachae recipe

Ingredients:
2 cups watermelon (cut into small pieces or scooped into balls)
1 cup blueberries (cut in half)
1 cup strawberries (cut in half)
2 cups fruits of your choice (chopped)
1 cup strawberry milk
2 cups soda water, Sprite, or Limca
1 cup jelly
2 tbsp sugar or honey (add more or less as you like)
Ice cubes
Flower petals or mint leaves for garnishing (optional)
Method:
To make this Korean delight, wash and chop all the fruits into bite-sized pieces. Now, in a big bowl or jug, pour in the soda or Sprite. Add sugar or honey and stir well. Then add strawberry milk. You can skip it if you don’t like the taste or want to go dairy-free. Put all the chopped fruits into the bowl. Add lots of ice cubes and chill the whole thing in the fridge for 15-20 minutes. Pour into glasses or serve in a big bowl. Add flower petals or mint leaves on top for the aesthetics.
That’s it! Your fruity, chilled Korean-style summer punch is ready. It’s super simple, super refreshing, and a great way to enjoy the goodness of fruits. Serve it at your next get-together or sip it while watching your favourite K-drama.
