Let’s be honest, no matter how good the music is or how fancy the cocktails look, every party reaches a point where people need a little push to loosen up. That’s where drinking games come in. Move over “Never Have I Ever” and “Beer Pong” because it’s time to level up your hosting skills with some bold, exciting, and mischievous games. These will guarantee laughter, chaos, and a night everyone will be talking about long after the hangover fades. Here are some new drinking games for parties to try next time you’re hosting a rager.

1. Sip or Spill

This is basically “Truth or Dare”, minus the dare, but a lot juicier. One person asks another a cheeky or awkward question, like “Who’s the last person you stalked on Instagram?” or “Which mate here is the worst texter?” If the person answers honestly, they’re safe. If they don’t fancy answering, they have to take a sip. It’s super fun because it gets people talking, sparks hilarious confessions, and exposes who in the group has zero filter.

2. Buzzed Jenga

Take a normal Jenga tower and make it spicy. Write a different rule or challenge on each block before the game starts. For example: “Take two sip”, “Kiss the person on your right”, “Speak in an accent until your next turn.” Whenever someone pulls a block, they have to do whatever’s written before stacking it on top. It’s one of the easiest drinking games for parties to get people mingling.

3. Drinktionary

The perfect blend of Pictionary and charades with a twist, this one will get the crowd competitive in no time. Players split into two teams. One person from the first team gets a word or phrase; you can use a word generator or just come up with your own. They then have to draw it on a napkin, coaster, or scrap of paper, or act it out. If their team guesses correctly within 30 seconds, the other team drinks. If they don’t, their own team drinks.

4. Most Likely To… with a twist

This is the ultimate roasting game. Someone reads out a “Most Likely To” statement, like “Who’s most likely to text their ex at 2 am?” On the count of three, everyone points at who they think fits the bill. The person with the most fingers pointed at them has to take a sip of their drink.

5. Kings with a twist

This one uses a deck of cards, and each number has a meaning. The number 2 represents ‘you’; choose someone to drink with. 5 represents ‘guys’; all the men drink. 8 represents ‘mate’; choose a drinking buddy who has to drink whenever you do. King represents making a new rule, like no one can say names, or everyone drinks with their left hand. The game ends when all four Kings are drawn, and by then, there’ll be so many bizarre rules that no one remembers half of them. It’s unpredictable and competitive, perfect for a big group.

6. Flip, Sip, or Strip

This one’s cheeky. One person flips a coin and calls heads or tails. If they’re wrong, they have two choices: sip their drink or remove an item of clothing. Accessories count, so people, don’t panic! It’s light-hearted and adds a playful dare element, best played with mates who don’t mind being silly. This can make for a good drinking game for a bachelorette party too.

7. Accent Roulette

drinking game for parties

Grab a bowl and fill it with slips of paper, each with a different accent written on it (French, Irish, American, Australian, etc.). Players draw one on their turn and must speak in that accent until the next round. If they forget or slip back into their normal accent, they drink.
