Marking Kriti Sanon’s debut as a producer, Do Patti has received a bland response since the teaser release. However, the unique cast promised a gripping watch. Starring Kajol, Kriti Sanon, and Shaheer Sheikh in the lead, Do Patti follows the case of a deep sibling rivalry between twin sisters. They want the same thing (typical twin behaviour) and no one will back off until they get what they want. Does this simple case of sibling rivalry promise a suspenseful thriller? Read this review of Do Patti to decide if the movie is worth your time.

The movie follows the story of Saumya and Shailee (both played by Kriti Sanon) who are no different than the Pandavas and Kauravas. Whenever there’s a fight between the sisters, Shailee is asked to sacrifice so Saumya gets what she wants. These recurring incidents create a deep-rooted jealousy between them which knows no limits when they fall in love with the same guy.

And that’s how Dhruv Sood (Shaheer Sheikh) comes into the picture. A rich spoilt brat and an infamous womaniser, Dhruv wants to start his paragliding business in Devipur, Uttarakhand. While shuffling between the twins, will Dhruv succeed in becoming the ace?

War is on the cards

This sibling feud reaches the battleground when a no-nonsense cop, Vidya Jyothi (Kajol) vows to get to the depth of their act. Vidya always plays by the rules but this time, she finds herself at loggerheads between the word of law and the spirit of the law. She arrests Dhruv on charges of ‘domestic violence and attempt to murder’, alleged by Saumya and other neighbours. As soon as Vidya feels she has finally solved the case, it turns into a mystery as she gets second thoughts about Dhruv’s innocence. The twists and turns leading up to the climax will grab your attention.

Solid star cast for a safe landing

The movie desperately wants to win but mistakenly reveals its cards to everyone. Do Patti‘s predictable storyline follows the theme of domestic violence in India, especially in smaller villages and towns. As much as the issue needs to be talked about, this movie required a compelling plot.

However, the brilliant star cast pulls its act together to compensate for wasted time. Even though Kajol and Kriti Sanon are meant for stronger roles, they performed well to uplift the weak storyline. It felt great to see Kajol in her element on screen after a long time. As for Kriti, no one could have played the twins better than her.

The supporting cast, including Tanvi Azmi, Vivek Mushran, Chittaranjan Tripathi, and Brijendra Kala, were a treat for the eyes as they performed expectedly well.

Shaheer Sheikh steals the show

From the beginning to the last minute of his on-screen presence, Shaheer Sheikh stole the show. He is the real-life hukum ka ikka as he does complete justice to his role. Shaheer will make you smile stupidly and feel terrified of him at the same time, all thanks to his brilliant craft.

Do Patti is streaming now on Netflix.

Can you watch it with your family?: The movie contains obscene language and sexual content, making it awkward to watch with the family. It also contains an explicit portrayal of domestic abuse which requires viewers’ discretion.
