Dhoom Dhaam, directed by Rishab Seth, is the latest addition to Netflix’s romance-comedy genre. Starring Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi in the lead roles, this couple-on-the-run story revolves around a thrilling night and has all the classic Bollywood elements. There are goons, guns, a predictable storyline, an arranged marriage couple trying to get to know each other, and cooked-up comedy scenes to keep you interested. But does it deliver? Read this Dhoom Dhaam movie review to find out if it is worth a Valentine’s Day watch.

Where is Charlie?

The story starts with Koyal and Veer’s arranged marriage, and the couple knows almost nothing about each other. The wedding is planned and executed within two weeks of the families’ meeting, and they don’t get enough time to interact or even discuss their likes and dislikes. Cut to their first night; before things can start getting romantic, a knock on the door puts everything to a halt. Two goons push in with guns and demand the couple tell them where Charlie is. Unaware of who or what they’re talking about, Koyal and Veer try their best to get rid of them, but things take a dangerous turn and shots are fired. Soon, this turns into a high-speed car chase where the couple tries to save their lives.

Upon a call from the CID (Criminal Investigation Department), Koyal and Veer get to know that Charlie is the name of a pen drive that has evidence against a robbery conducted by some policemen. The pen drive belongs to Koyal’s uncle, who’s now in the ICU. In haste, he dropped the pen drive in one of Koyal’s gift bags to keep it safe. But in all the wedding madness and her bachelorette, Koyal doesn’t remember who she gave the bags to, which leads to a whole night of running, escaping, and hiding from the goons. Will Koyal and Veer find Charlie, or will they run out of time and endanger their and their family’s lives?

Predictable story and a bland plot

Dhoom Dhaam isn’t something out of the box. Instead, it is predictable, bland, and doesn’t offer you anything besides an average watch. Yami Gautam as Koyal and Pratik Gandhi as Veer try their best to be a funny, chaotic couple, but there is no chemistry between the two. It almost seems forced and doesn’t make you connect to them emotionally. This film is inspired by many others and misses the mark. So, if you’re looking for a casual watch, Dhoom Dhaam is decent. But if you’re looking for a roller coaster rom-com and action thriller, it’s going to disappoint you.

Can you watch Dhoom Dhaam with your family?: The movie has some foul language, but you can watch it with family.

Dhoom Dhaam is now streaming on Netflix.
