Women have been trying to teach men the basics of relationships for thousands of years now. And we’ve been failing…obviously. I mean, look at the men in your life, bachche. For the longest time, we were told men are like this only. They aren’t smart enough to learn new things easily. But cricket mein toh sab fatafat samajh aa jaata hai inhe. So, we’re now going to use cricket to explain relationship basics to men. Here are a few dating tips for men based on the simple concepts of cricket.

Respect boundaries

In cricket, once the ball crosses a boundary, you accept the change in scores and dynamics on the field. Easy peasy. Boundaries in relationships are the same. If they have been set, you have to accept them. You can’t move the boundary according to your convenience. Not in cricket, not in relationships.

Consistency wins trophies

Relationships are like world cups. You need to be consistent in your performance to win world cups. You might win a couple of matches with an amazing performance, but if you can’t maintain that level, you lose the tournament. Be a decent person consistently and win the tournament of life.

Have your partner’s back

You know how, sometimes, batsmen start getting desperate for runs? And in that desperation, they run off prematurely, leaving their wicket unguarded, and not realising that the ball is in the gleeful wicketkeeper’s hand. Stupid of them na to ruin the match for the chance of an extra run? Apply the same logic to your relationship, boys. Support your partner, nahi toh khud hi run out ho jaoge.

Temper tantrums never help

Sabke saamne halla karne se achcha hai, privately baat karo and sort out your issues. Otherwise your temper tantrums can come back to haunt you even years later. Like the 2008 video of Harbhajan Singh slapping Sreesanth after an IPL match going viral in 2025.

Googlies are fun until you’re at the receiving end

When a bowler throws a googly, the world is entertained and bowlers love the applause. But when that same bowler picks up the bat, he should be ready to face similar curve balls, no? Jaisi karni waisi bharni and all that. So, whatever you throw at your partner in a relationship, think about how you will feel and react if they treated you the same way.

Cricket isn’t easy to understand and you get everything about it so nicely, bachche. Maybe put the same effort in your relationship? Women are easier to understand than the Duckworth Lewis method, you know.
